It's the same here in the US. Republican party has a large number of racists but Republicans love a black man who stomps on other black men and becomes a Republican politician. Then they have their token black man and say "see we're not racist".

I wonder if the same is true about conservatives and Asians like Sunak. There will be some who are genuinely not racists. Some that are and won't vote for him. And a third group who are racist but will point to Sunak and say "look at our token minority mascot".
Hmmm, a bit like you can say the Tories have had 2 female leaders with two present candidates running high for the next position whilst Labour have never been close to one.
Them Tories and their minorities eh, not a bit like the Labour male only stalwarts <laugh>

No difference from me thinking white socialist men were racists, especially those that belonged to unions. Racism often wrongly gets attached as you have done, as only being to the right. I wonder how many of National Front use to be Labour voters?

Go to youtube and look up a programme (sitcom) from the 70's called love they neighbour, the main character was a white socialist union member, created to take the piss out of our racist culture.
Good old Alf <laugh>, not sure about the socialist bit though, his favourite saying to his daughter was "your darling Harold".

There is a class system over here which complicates it. So if you're brown skinned but come from a wealthy background or perceived as a toff holding a "pull the ladder up I'm alright Jack" right wing attitude then you'll generally get quite far, with money being an influencing factor. But it will only get you so far. Sunak won't make PM when this gets to the Tory members voting.

In a poll specifically of Tory members yesterday only about 16% of the members have even heard of Mordaunt, compared with 77% for Sunak yet in a run off between her and Sunak, 67% of those same Tory members will vote for Mordaunt over 28% for Rishi. But of course nothing to see here.

Trying to recruit now, it’s a nightmare to get skilled people.
Have more CV’s for engineers from India than here in the U.K. how has it come to the point where the nation that started the industrial revolution, made life changing technological breakthroughs….doesn’t have enough qualified engineers and starts to call a gas fitter an ****ing engineer to make people think that we are okay!

Tony ****ing Blair ruined the engineering/manufacturing pipeline by introducing tuition fees. What a ****.

Not sure Tony Blair made that much of a difference. The future skills shortage was identified as far back as the mid 80’s when manufacturing in the UK went out the window. When I started my apprenticeship I did the first year at college full time, along with about 100 others from the different industries in the area. The following year that number dropped to 12 at the college!
Chatham dockyard, used to have 2 intakes a year which amounted to at least a couple of hundred apprentices, but that stopped mid 80’s when the dockyard closed. This was the same across the country.
What you ended up with was no apprenticeships, so the only route in was through engineering courses at university which was never go to keep up with what would be required.
I was fortunate that my company decided to sponsor me through university, so I’ve seen that side of it as well. The main issue with university is that it’s educating people to enter at management level, so again doesn’t help with skills gap.
I sat alongside some clever youngsters at university who could tell you the square root of a banana but couldn’t peel it.
I’ve seen a change in the last few years, with decent apprenticeship schemes starting to appear, but it’s going to take years before it restores the balance IMO.

Love Thy Neighbour wasn’t a documentary mate.

It's probably due to not having much and then thinking somebody from elsewhere nicks your job which has been happening.......its an old trait used by the system to divide the masses while they enjoy life's luxuries.

It's not exclusive to any strata of society, prejudice exists across the board. When it exists at an institutional level, as was found with the Met Police for example, that's when it becomes a serious problem for society. And when people in positions of power hold racist views, then that has serious implications. A lot of what I would see as low level casual racism that pervades, i.e incorrect assumptions, stereotypes, name calling, culture mocking, fear of loss of jobs/access to NHS etc, comes from parroting a largely right wing media that demonise refugees and asylum seekers,

Divide and rule

Get the middle class to blame the working class for strikes and wage inflation, get the working class to blame the unemployed for scrounging benefits, get the unemployed to blame the immigrants for nicking all the jobs.

All orchestrated and facilitated by the wealthy elite who control the media. 'Look at those greedy ****s wanting £20 extra per week to feed their kids' but let's not talk about the £119bn that goes missing each year from tax avoidance.

There's more of us then there are of them, and they know it. That's why they deliberately and systematically try and drive a wedge between people who have more in common with each other than they do their rich overlords.

Zionism works well init......shadow government works well but I wouldn't expect you to see past the smoke and mirrors whilst being stuck in a corner of perception

I noted that the bloke who made the documentary about Corbyn's anti-semitism dropped his libel case recently.

Corbyn called him out as a liar so he said he'd sue him. Seems he didn't want to test that theory in court <laugh>

The Tories aren't racist about money. So long as you're a billionaire, they don't care where the money comes from; Russia, India, Saudi Arabia, just leave the sack of cash in the boot of the Jag and say no more. Knighthood's in the post.
