I'd much rather get diaby from YouTube evidence anyway..

My preference would be Diaby without a doubt. There's other strikers out there I'd have ahead of Isak personally. Scamacca very much looks like he'll be on the move, West Ham heavily linked and that's one we should be all over but I very much feel he's like Mitro 2.0. There's a kid called Valentin Castellanos who plays for New York that I've seen mentioned once or twice in recent days and he looks canny but would be a far cheaper alternative if we're going to take a gamble.

If they bought diaby and loaned a striker that would be a good window for sure

Trippier
Botman
Gamereas
Diaby

That's 4 really good quality players in 2 windows.

I think forwards are super hard to get. These guys want quality, we're hamstrung by having Saudi ownership and it's a sellers market. Nunez was poor in his first outing for L'pool and cost £85m. The best want UCL football as well, so I don't envy the task.

I agree with the sentiment that CM is the most important part of the pitch, but we have 2 really top players there already in Big Joe and Bruno - Willock has a lot more to offer, Longstaff could recapture early form, Shelvey may have a throwback season, then there's young Elliot Anderson.

RW then we have currently Almiron first, then Fraser, then Murphy, in order of reliability and ability. Howe will be well aware how they're looking, performing, training. The Diaby links suggest to me we'd love a top player in there, which then allows Almiron/Fraser to give strength in depth right and left.

CF is clearly the priority. Wilson will not play more than half the games. We then have no youth and Wood. Yes, we need to control from midfield, but against Arsenal we demonstrated we can already do that. ASM needs to be more clinical and intelligent, but has all the ability. RW is a problem, not enough is created, but if we are going into games with just Wood and no sub, that's not great. Both are 31.

CF priority for me. I'd take that right now, get them in and working then keep ear to the ground on selling clubs buckling or loan-to-buy coming up before Sep 1st.

so which area do you think is the priority mate?

Possibly they are waiting to see how the current squad perform before chucking loads more cash at it. I would, or you could end up in an Everton situation spending a fortune and going backwards. We need a CF but we need the right CF. Howe will get them working as a team and it's going to be a great season.

Again, I have no idea how you can enter a PL season with two 30+ year old options up front, particularly when one is Chris Wood and the other is made of wood. I think that could be catastrophic - for all Wood was part of the surprise run last season, he's a really poor player who can't head, shoot or score.

Was just rooting around players - Luka Jović left Madrid for FREE last week, is 24 years old and scored 4 on his subsequent Fiorentina debut. Where are we for moves like this? Fiorentina would have been nowhere near our wages. My job isn't to scout for players, but surely this could've been a no brainer?

Brian Brobbey has been linked with Man U - why aren't we going for him, he's about £15-20m, he's not getting a game with Man U favouring a 4-2-3-1 now and Ronaldo, Martial and Rashford vying for a single spot.

It doesn't exist does it

The tweet - no it doesn't. He didn't tweet it, he wrote in an article for the Torygraph on the 23rd March that Newcastle weren't going to be signing any superstars in the summer and the budget was going to be less than the £90m they spent in January.

If i recall correctly he said it was £60m plus sales (they is re-reported as his words in many many places online) but the actual story is locked behind a paywall. Feel free to have a look yourself but there's no way on earth I'm paying a penny towards that one-eyed abortion of a rag claiming to be a newspaper.
