Hold on a second, when Kumi hit Lewis from behind a couple of races ago, all theusual dimwits were on here saying that it was Lewis fault ! lol The only reason that it went Hamiltons way, is that it wasn't Mcnish or Mansell et al in charge. Everyone is now seeing the obvious biased when it involved hamilton, and it was becoming a running joke. If they had of penalised him for something that a Japanese driver did to him in spa, i.e it his back wheel and knock him off the track, they would have had a bloody good case for race discrimination.
He does seem to be going through the genuine process of trying to move forward, "aka" coming to terms to what has happened this year. It's normal to try and seek forgiveness to the people you have pissed off with your antics and it seems after months of criticism from the media, f1 fans, drivers and teams, have seemed to have finally got through his head. Seems genuine but Lewis might have to bite the bullet and almost say sorry to massa with the media watching him to settle it because it looks like Massa isn't moving and these quick "have a good race" isn't enough for him. I say he makes a public apology in front of Felipe while being interviewed on Brazilian TV to show he means it, shake hands with him and apologize for the multiple situations and that he was never aiming to ruin his races and they should try to be more respectful of each other. Don't bother doing it behind closed doors because the media will still turn the screw if they did clash again by pure accident. I would strongly recommend this action by Lewis to put the ball in Felipe's court to accept it, if he doesn't accept it he really is just being bitter.
Silver, I see where you are coming from, but ultimtely why should Lewis apologise to Massa first? If he did do that, he would get slated as doing it just for the press! What they both need to do is man-up, shake hands and get on with it. Neither have been innocent and both could have done things to avoid many of the incidents they've had this year together. Unless they sort it out, both could ruin their careers if their attitudes towards each other on the track do not change.
Lewis is being labeled the bad guy and Felipe the victim, if he does this he spins the media around and the public will back Lewis up for it, while they await normally for Felipe to accept it. If he doesn't then the public will decide Felipe was always the bad guy since he isn't willing to move forward himself.
The reason he's labelled the bad guy Silver, is that it's him who's been doing the tapping, not Massa. But your idea of a public apology is, I think, a good and practical one. Preferably as you say, before the actual race in Brazil. If there's an incident there, I shudder to think of the potential consequences. Anyone else remember years ago when Mansell was showered with bottles, for having the temerity and impertinence to beat Senna? The place is Dodge City frankly, and this nonsense needs sorting before everyone gets there. And Fevriul, that incident at Spa was different in that it was Hamilton's corner all the way (Kobayashi was never going to take the place) and he moved over to the OUTSIDE of the track, presumably to get better entry speed, and didn't expect Kobayashi to be there. Had Kobayashi tried to sneak in on the INSIDE (as per yesterday) and punted him off, he'd have had every right to feel agrieved. Just my viewpoint and opinion.
hamilton had a bad season fair enough, but one season does not means that hamilton is always going to be slower than button. thats like saying that felipe massa will always be faster than raikonnen, or senna always better than prost
Hamilton is being defended enough, he needs to prove his own skill on the track without the whiners and fanboys (I am one - Schumacher), backing him up every mistake he makes. It is his turn.
Totally agree as well. It's a bit odd that Webber never used to have bad starts. It's only really been this season that he has had trouble. Webber is only at Red Bull in order to ensure that they win the condtructors' title. Competing with little prince Vettel is strictly off limits. The lights have gone off in Webber's eyes.
I like that: Mifune's law, the F1 version of Godwin's Law. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godwin's_law#cite_note-WiredMCM-1
I must have missed that one! It has just one flaw: IF ONLY it was "generally accepted that there is no point in carrying on the discussion"! BTW, Nazis, the lot of you
Nah, Both Massa and Hamilton are racing drivers, but unfortunately not quite men yet, and both have this problem with being beaten, Massa is pissed off with losing the WDC to Hamilton from which he will never get over and now having Alonso as lead driver, Lewis is pissed with being beaten by Button which he will get over and the genuine Hamilton will return. There is no need for public appologies, give them both a pair of boxing gloves and lock them in a room and film it and show it on the BBC SPOTY. Massa is mentally wrecked and will never return to his previous form, sadly. However Hamilton still has the time and opportunity, simply a matter of getting his head together, and just saying '**** it' and forgive himself for making mistakes, who gives a **** if Massa doesn't like being overtaken on the inside, take him on the outside. I love Hamiltons unorthodox driving, the problem is, some of the rest of the grid dont use their ****ing mirrors, its about time they got used being overtaken in unusual places.
Both drivers can get back on track again. 1) Hamilton needs time to sort his head out. 2) Massa needs to move teams. 3) Both need to grow up.
