Yeah the US was a pain in the arse, like still in prehistoric times when it came to chip cards. Like, what do you mean I've got to sign. <laugh>

And do they still do this bolloxs where you have to pay for your fuel before you fill, fooking shhite idea that was.

If you're paying cash you have to prepay. They say it's to prevent theft, but it's probably more likely so you will go in and buy something from their store while youre there.

If you're using a card, I don't think I've ever had to prepay (although they do place a sizable hold on your card before you start filling up)

My main complaint though is the pumps with video screens on them playing ads the whole time you're filling up. Once I learn a place has video screens I never go back to that location.

Ah, is this like where I ping my mate money for when he buys my match tickets, his account details are set into my banking app (transfer payments), I get a text to say bought, I then just ping the money straight over.

That is an example of one except that your mate might ping over "new" details but he has maybe had his phone hacked or is using a different number and you setup a new payee to him (who is actually the scammer). If it was your mates saved account it would just go straight to your mates account

It's fraud where you actively choose to pay someone believing they are your friend/intending to use your money in a way you think but actually not so are scammed.

I use to struggle to get the American pumps to accept my card, so quite often paid in cash, probably improved now.

Do they still have that lever on the pumps that you have to raise up as well?

I see, good example that mate.

Some do, most don't anymore. I still find myself reaching for it out of years of muscle memory though.

I've remembered what the problem was with credit cards on American fuel pumps, the zip code authorisation, this article explains it better than I can...

This is all good, if they actually tell you this information...

To pay for fuel at the gas pump in the USA with a British credit card, when asked for the zip code enter the digits from your postcode, ignoring the letters, and then enter zeros (0) to fill the remaining digits until you have 5 digits in total. For example, if your postcode in the UK is NG29 1JX enter 29100; if your postcode in the UK is W1 1AA enter 11000.

<laugh>

Yes, I guess that would be a problem... If using credit card it always asks for zip code which is a 5 digit number over here.

Explain mate?

What am I missing

Dunno bro, just a gut reaction at the time <laugh>

But something not right about the security where someone with a gun can just go up to such a major political figure and shoot him like that.

Bloke that shot him was a weirdo apparently. You know, the loner, fruitcake. Always seems to be the loner,fruitcake... or as some might say, the patsy <whistle>
