I completely understand your take on it. As a bit of counterbalance - Mané is on half of Salah's wages and always has been (not the reason he's looking for a move now) and hasn't, as far as I know, kicked up a fuss about it which sort of negates that as a reason as to why Salah shouldn't earn more than similar level players with similar time at the club ie. Mané. I feel like the club is on the verge of taking the next step needed in order to keep competing with the oil dopers. They are already upping the perceived limit of what they will pay to land the best players ( I think they would have gone really high for Tchouameni) now they need to offer an upped level of wages in order to keep them. I'm not talking 500k and above but a decent rise from the 250k (or whatever it is) current upper limit. We didn't start our period of near domination until we went all in on Alisson and Virgil. If we'd kept to our previous level of what we were prepared to pay for a player, that would never have happened. I'd hate for the next stumbling block to progression and further success to be us not being prepared to alter the wage structure in a way that keeps everyone happy.
That could apply to several players. There were loads of games when Trent, for example, and I love him, seemed not bothered, the CL final coming straight to mind.
I was being a funny bugger I think the change in form for Salah between the first and second half of the season is astounding though, clearly something not right. But you could say the same but in reverse for Mane.
I think it may have to do with life-hapiness. He lost the ACON (did that lower case at first and my phone changed it to bacon) and he's probably not happy he's not getting his pay raise. I believe that he really would prefer to stay if he can get the money with us. I don't think he was as happy or optimistic in the second half of the season and that impacted his performance... Just slightly... But even just slightly is enough to make a few goals turn into misses.
I think that's exactly what it is. **** sulking about money, play well and continue to prove you're worth it! Understand the other two disappointments
For me i think we can't underestimate the impact of that ACON. I didn't see a massive drop off as they talked contracts up to that and honestly egypt played him i think in 120mins in every round and the final and TBH it looks leggy after. This guy is there for records, medals, personal glory and everything. The day of the league final game he was visibly upset picking up personal trophies that he didn't get the win. I don't see it as IMO the guy wasn't balon'dor etc and the loss of the trophies will have hurt. Now mane.... hmmmmmm.. I am torn here. He was playing decently but not precisely brilliant. they were all tired but the second he dropped the wait til after.... I am just wondering. didn't play well and was taken off in CL final. there a case to be made to have started Jota after he said that and started that churn just purely on a focus issue. however where i am torn is jota's form was total ****e for last 2/3 months. As it starts the door better not hit mane on the way out. salah is still LFC player and we need until replaced so we will see.
You, surely not I agree on Salah. Goalwise went from hero to zero (almost), Mané was less easy to track, from memory, more like a mid season blip.
Future of Marco Asensio is in doubt, Liverpool is considering a bid of £30m. Real Madrid considers Marco Asensio to be surplus to requirement
Looking at that photo, there is a slight lean, but it's not very pronounced. I'm already beginning to worry about his dedication to the club.
I don’t think leaning has been a thing for the last few years now unfortunately. Has also coincided with us winning trophies and the signings doing well….
