Not sure many (any?) of the ITKs were saying we would get Bissouma a few days ago. Just a thought, I wonder how much they really know?????? [Damn, it's hard to write in a sarcastic voice.]
One thing I'm finding odd from the Twitter/Reddit crowd: they're assuming that, should Bissouma arrive, it will be Bentancur making way Surely it's Hojbjerg who will make way?
Assuming Bissouma is signed, there are 6 combos of the 4 players. Using the PL as a reference, which combo do you believe would be best suited (in attack and defence) to deal with each of the 19 opponents ??
Don’t think it’s a case of first, second, third choice etc with these midfielders. Assuming Bissouma gets done, we have 4 good midfielders to choose from for 2 starting spots. Excluding injuries for a second, I don’t expect any of them to start all 38 league games but there’s a very solid chance that they all feature in the 38 thanks to the 5 subs rule next season. With CL and domestics too, they’ll all get plenty of game time, I’m sure of it. CM and WB are probably the positions that are most physically demanding so it’s areas we need strength in depth the most, we’ve now got that with CM.
I think if we are starting our strongest 11and everybody is fit we start Bissouma and Bentancur, however I agree having Hojbjerg and Skipp in the squad are very important players.
It’s not something I’m gonna worry too much about. Skipp before his injury was superb and Hojbjerg had another very decent season, he was MOTM in some big games. Bentancur along with Kulu were hugely responsible for getting us fourth and then Bissouma looks like some player. Lovely problem for Conte to have. I honestly don’t think I’ll have an issue with any combination of them starting against any team, especially as I know that if one or two are underperforming after the first 45, they can be hauled off and there’ll be little to no drop in quality.
It's a really strong 4. We've really lacked for the ability to rotate players without a loss of quality, leading to burn out in too many players. Conte and Paratici are building a really high quality resilience into the squad, with more to come. It's very impressive...all the more so given what we've spent so far. It's all very exciting.
You need a big squad these days and you can’t just have a quality 11 and then back up players. This is why I’m happy that the club are looking at the likes of Richarlison as he can play anywhere in the front three even though some say he will be a £50million sub.
