Yeah, I fear he may have taken England as far as he can. With this generation of players, we need a fresh coach. Southgate won't recover from this. 0-4 now.
It is. The stupid thing is, England were all over them for most of the second half, but Hungary were totally clinical. Southgate has reached the end I think, but he won't go before the WC.
That's an embarrassing result however you try to paint it. WC could be a disaster if the team play anything like they have the last three games
He's resembled Warburton these last 4 games with rotation and the subs, Saka, Mount and Sterling have been awful last 3 games, what was wrong with trying Kane and Abraham up top together, couldn't have been any worse !
He won't. These games have been disastrous for England. However, when it comes to the WC, I'll be amazed if Wales don't sit back for 90 minutes hoping for a draw or flukey win. Look, England haven't suddenly become a poor side. These players haven't become poor players. There was too much experimenting and Southgate admitted as much post game. He obviously had to be careful with the starting 11 after such a long, hard season and I'm sure all kinds of agreements were made with Premier League managers. He also admitted that he made too many changes too often. Hopefully he'll take all this on board and the September games will be totally different. He must utilise the talent at his disposal, but if he leaves the midfield wide open like he did tonight we'll get nowhere.
I didn’t see any of the game. Do you think Southgate knows the team and shape he wants to play in Qatar?
I think he's probably very close to it. I also think, sadly, that as successful as he's made England, he may have taken us as far as he can. I'd be in favour of a new coach after the WC so that this generation of players isn't wasted. Don't ask me who. Don't have a scooby.
I suspect the refreshing lack of fear, which came with youth and low expectations, which his teams had at the start of his time, has begun to fade. And the expectations should be higher now, given the results at the last two big tournaments.
As long as it's not Michael Beale! He's getting ready for a Hoops revolution! Eddie Howe? Sean Dyche.....just for Stan
