He has his moments, including some cracking goals. I think he plays better with better players around him, finding it hard to step up when we're looking to him to do just that. He's just not consistent enough but if Klopp's happy to keep him then so am I.
For me keita reminds me of sturridge. He just looks like he has no higher gear to go up to. Just doesn't look like the prem is for him. He gets the press, he can dribble all day and has a shot in him as well. But picking passes, playmaking and mixing it in the prem.. no.
Conor Bradley to go out on loan apparently, with the club seeing his future in midfield rather than RB.
Re. Naby - he's a very efficient footballer in terms of his all round game - he tops or is close to the top of the charts (in our team) in terms of passing, progressing passing and pressing. He's a jack of all trades without being the master of one. Also has the highest points per game in the squad I believe so he is doing something right. However, I do agree that I can't see him being a main starter in this team but he's certainly a good squad option IMO. What disappointed me the most is that I expected him to be the main midfielder and to put him game changing performances but it feels like that has been sucked out of his game - maybe injuries have played too much of a part in that or Klopp has tweaked his game, who knows. If a very good offer comes in, I would be inclined to take it as long as we get someone like Bellingham.
Can Nunez play RF? I may have asked this question before... If Klopp and the scouting team want him, then I'm confident he'll be a good player for us. But it seems a lot of money for a player who doesn't address the main issues in the squad, i.e. RF and in particular MF. Dortmund have made it clear that Bellingham would be available next summer at the earliest, and we're prepared to wait for the right player, so if we are just waiting then ok. But we would in any case need more than just Bellingham, if he's really part of our plans at all. In that sense, I would rather Chuck the money at someone like Tchouameni or Raphinha (positionally, not necessarily those actual players) as that would seem the more immediate need, and if we break our record for Nunez I can't see us going big again this summer.
Think he predominantly plays CF and also LW however I'm not sure I want him on the wing as I think his build up play is a bit limited. Either way, I think we tweak the system and evolve, which is something Klopp likes to do every now and again. We had a workforce midfield not too long, but then added more technical quality with Thiago and mainly play with a double pivot. I think with Darwin, we can now play a 4231 with him as the focal point.
seems very reasonable when we boil away all the bullshit.... man utd can't really afford the team they want to build plus nunez. they are focused on CMs first and foremost. now thats not to say they won't try anyway but this is really down to them having a shopping list for tin hat that includes de jong, torres, martinez, a litany of ajax players (lazy hacks reporting) etc. rule nothing in or out at this point but it would be safe to conclude we would want a SIZEABLE art of any fee paid off by certain other sales. BTW..... i liked the look of the players himself but there was a lot of scope for improvement finishing wise. pace, skill, power all looking fantastic.
nunez ticking boxes Height: 1.87m nice and tall and powerful Age: 22, nice age Right footed (came off left against us) IMO he is like jota but taller and he is quick. Diaz Nunez Salah is the three for me still. Jota Firmino Minamino as back ups. for me that all makes eminent sense but doesn't address the CM priority. Bellingham i am very confident will never play for us. We need someone to lock down the LCM slot and develop Elliott. rotate thiago with elliott at RCM maybe. We need someone to take the load of fabinho.
But the 4231 will basically still face the same personnel issues as the 433, if we even want to do that.
Wonder if Hendo will cover DM a lot more this season. Klopp seems to want more from that RCM role this season and Elliott was playing it very different to how Hendo did, especially when combine TAA coming inside more With Hendo getting older, makes sense for him to drop back into a more disciplined role, albeit needs to work on few things when he is playing that role as defensively no where near fab atm. As cover for odd games, against lower teams would be happy for him there though.
