I suppose he could be an Ashworth suggestion. I know he was on gardening leave, but he wouldn’t be the first person in that situation to make a phone call or two…

Nah we went all out in January, this is a Nickson thing.

Sure one eye on tomorrow but as it stands we don’t really have a good enough first team. We’re already one player down (Targett). £30m is a lot of cash for a prospect in a position we have 3 options in already.

Hope we’ve been improving our pastoral care since the takeover. We may have money, but these are still huge sums for very young players.

I guess there’s an eye on FFP. Take a punt on a very promising youngster and you may save yourself a fortune further down the line.

Friendly soul, I take it.
He turned us down in January. Appears to be waiting for other offers now. Fair enough, but he isn’t exactly falling over himself to join us. He’s young with zero experience outside his hometown. The change is a big one for him.
Only reason he rejected us in January because he wanted more time to make the decision he’s 19 would be hard for any 19 year old to make that decision and move away from his family, Eddie Howes man management with him will help him and also having a mentor in Wilson.

Hope so. It would be great to get a classy goal scorer without forking out 80m. Still a lot of money on a very young lad with no experience away from home. He isn’t going to have the outlet of playing weekly to settle himself either. Far too lightweight at the minute. Maybe we could buy him and loan him back for a season, though as Roland said, we could do with buying players who could make a difference right now if we really don’t have a huge sum to spend.
Interested in who our new sponsors are going to be and how much they’re paying. If we get someone paying closer to the top 5 or 6 teams (30/40m a year as opposed to the current 6m), then that will be a potential game changer.

Glad to see everyone is happy with this one, I am firmly on the fence but I obviously hope everyone is right and he's a top player.

You’re all too kind.

I think it’s a poor signing, if it happens. For several reasons:

- He seems really unsure. We’ve been here before repeatedly with Thauvin, Cabella, Merino and more.
- He’s very similar to ASM, a position we have three reasonable options in and is far from a priority.
- He doesn’t even look that good.
- it’s a lot of coin from our FFP budget when we’ve got no left back, weak CB, limited CM and other poor attacking options up front and on the right.

Let’s be mindful that I’m entitled to opinion and my ramblings on this forum mean absolutely **** all! Paqueta? Great. Harrison? Fab. Targett? Good work, guys. Isak/Gouiri? Well played. Badiashiele/Botman? Lovely job. Ekitike? Really?!

I’m only pleased with that if we sort the rest of the **** out first.

He's got 1 in 2 plus assists playing for a poor team? He's a good player and he's got a footballers brain.

Mate it’s just an opinion, leave it there! I could say he’s in France, or look at Thauvins stats, or that Wood has decent historical stats in really poor PL teams.

I think it’s a signing two years too early, but I understand it. And if it happens hope he proves me completely wrong.

Tauvin is a good player... He came to a **** club with a crap manager and coaching team.

There's a reason the best clubs in the world want Ekiteke and a reason why newcastle have to take the chance before they do.

He’s very clinical am sure he’s got a good sight on goal, He won’t be good straight away needs to get used to the way he plays probably a bench player but he will come on to be good am sure with Howes man management

There are dozens if not hundreds like him mate. We need to get solid, next level players this summer then sort our dire scouting system out before we trust it on a £30m unknown:

There really isn't hence the price tag... There's nothing wrong with the scouts and now they're actually getting the players at the top of our scouts lists not the bottom.
