Thought this season I would try a "season compass" for the squad
as a whole (GF/GA from set piece / penalty kicks, clean sheets, OG etc) ...

Updated ( "goal diversity" measures) .

I decided to put this stuff in to see whether it will
provide an objective measure of squad
breadth/depth on the attacking side of things.
 
Although IMHO tis far too early in the season to make
general assessments of on-pitch performance, I do
think the following may be significant even with only
3 games played.

Only 5 games in, but the stats to date are giving me
significant insights into the current season performance
without need to have watched any of the games.

So my feeling is this article will have value akin to
the "season compass" one.
 
Notable changes in performance for the season to date (months = 1) .
Measures expressed as a % of the overall per game measures in 2021-22 ...


1. The saves needed to be made per game by the Spurs GK is down 50% .

2. The Spurs defence are down 33% at catching the opposition offside

3. The number of goals scored via headers is > 50%.

4. The number of goals scored from corners equals last season.

5. The number of forced OG is 50% .

6. The opposition have > 40% more shots off target.


My suggestion for the causes of :

- 1/2/6 is that the team is sitting deep and in large numbers

- 3/4/5 ks the quality of crosses into the box is much better

1. Number of yellow cards given to the opposition has increased by 60%

Measures expressed as a % of the overall 2021-22 per game measures ...

1. Goal diversity (scored and assisted) is 50% of the totals for
last season

2. The number of goals scored via headers is 77% of the total scored
last season .

3. The number of goals scored from corners is 2x that of last season.

4. The number of forced OG is currently at 50% .

5. The Spurs defence are down 50% at catching the opposition offside.

6. The opposition have 36% more shots off target.

7. The opposition have scored 0 goals from headers.


My suggestion for the causes of :

- 2/3/4 is the quality of crosses into the box is much better

- 5/6 is that the team is sitting deep and in large numbers

- 7 is the defence is preventing crosses of sufficient quality being made
