When you look at it in reverse. The number of continental youth players and 1st team players in the PL and lower leagues is ridiculous. Having said that, 15-20 years ago we had the sum total of Owen Hargreaves coming through the ranks on the continent. I think the likes of Sancho, Bellingham and Abrahams are opening the eyes of other youth players. I used to bang on about this 15+ yrs ago because in terms of technical ability and style of play I felt the coaching was better on the continent, whilst we were looking to develop the big bloke who could get on the end of a long ball and/or someone with pace to burn. Tbf that's changed quite a lot in recent years.
Love Jose for his ability to wind people up and also be capable of backing himself up with the things he wins, really happy he won tonight. That said, it's a bit of a stretch to call it a "major European competition" when it's just been invented for also rans and is in it's first season. If they invent one for the teams that avoided relegation next season will that be a "major European competition" too
Although there wasn't an English team in the all so rans final mate, so what's that say about the state of English clubs, especially with the amount of money swilling around in the Premier League. It was interesting to note, there weren't much in the way of death rolls by either club in the final tonight. Obviously Liverpool still have chance of a European Trophy. I get the impression that Jose works better with the younger players, rather than miserable fookers like Kane, who are so set in their way it's impossible to teach an old dog new tricks, although fair play to Conte on that front.
There's always been 3 major euro trophies The conference league is the old cup winners cup I don't see the issue especially as someone who watched the 3 euro trophy format back in the day like you did aswell
Jose won a trophy mate, that's all you need to understand, some people don't like the idea of him being capable of winning stuff. English mentality for yer.
Spot on with most of that, only bit i would question is the bit in bold, Abraham went down holding his leg with minutes to go from a nothing tackle, the camera zoomed in on him just as he winked at Jose
It's not though is it To be in the cup winners cup you had to actually win something not just miss out on the CL or EL by coming 7th. Like i infered in the post you quoted, soon there will be a "major European competition" for those who avoided relegation by coming 17th.
Just like the champions League is the old European cup... even looks the same. Different criteria for qualifying though...you had to win something to qualify for that one too.
United fans guilty conscience is still trying to justify getting rid of their most successful manager since Fergus because they believed the likes of Pogba
As a neutral, even if what I saw on display tonight is a trophy for the nearly clubs, the forumla worked, I watched the whole game. Afterall once the top six fook off, the Prem League will become the so close but too far league.
I was watching Smalldini tonight, I had to laugh to myself, throwing his body on the line to pick up a piece of silverware, don't think I've seen a United player do that all season.
Oh yeah, the European cup was for actual champions yet the "champions league" is for any ****er that gets top 4, you would think they would have thought of a better/more realistic name when they added more teams and games to spin the money. Remember the "Fairs Cup"? ****ed if i can remember how you qualified for that
Not one United fan is guilty of that mate, we all know Woodward bought "names" and backed them over the manager because they were high profile and marketable.
