That Ferrari front wing.

Given the fuss and outrage over the supposed flexing of the RB7's front wing, whats your take on the new, prototype "oscillating/fluttering" front wing that Felipe Massa trialled in practice? On 5live, Ant Davidson said he wouldn't drive a car with a wing like that, because he feared it would break. I have to agree with him here, and i'm glad Ferrari saw sense, and sent Massa out to qualify on a sturdier version, which he promptly broke, which means he may have to use this wing tomorrow. If this wing was declared legal, then surely it undermines the FIA's testing methods?
 
If Red Bull have been getting away with it for the last two seasons then other teams have to use it as well.

But there is a difference between a gentle flex, and the whole thing fluttering. That wing is a hazard, and if sense is used, it shouldn't feature again this season.
 
I don't think it would benefit Ferrari in any way, the car would be ridiculously and dangerously unstable.

Ferrari obviously have not got it quite right at the moment, but even if they wanted to keep it how it is and race with it the FIA should not be allowed to say they can't so long as it passes the tests which is obviously does.
 
it doesn't look too good, but I guess we know where that RBR front wing ended up, although I doubt if they're caught anything will happen.
 
If it gets past the tests then it's perfectly legal. It doesn't matter if it's dangerous. I think that the thing to do when confronted with flexible front wings is to praise the driver for going so quickly, so here goes.

*ahem*

Massa was so quick today. Great driving (until he took far too much kerb, as usual, and broke his suspension).
 
... They are prototypes afterall. reliability with them is something they wont have to worry about in pre season.
 
SO confirms what a few members of the board thought in that it is all down to teh materials and layering of the wing.

Think we should put together a not606 F1 Team when a grid slot becomes available :)

I think we'd do alright! We've got physicists, engineers (I think), a driver, a chemist and a raft of strategists currently honing their skills in GPRO. All we need now is the £25million for a new entry...
