I don't like the idea of DOFs to be honest. A manager should be able to pick his own players not be given a list of 3 and then pick.

We're gonna stick with this trendy way of doing it so I'm undecided on which side of the fence to sit on

How about Brentford’s one? No idea what his percentage success rate is but I’ll bet it’s pretty good.

And operates with a smaller budget too.

Now steady on there your idea needs a strong owner to sack Orta. This is the same owner who does not know his arrrse from his elbow. He failed to see we needed players in the summer. Then he repeated this brilliant strategy in January. Then too late he sacked Bielsa giving the new coach no chance of adding to the squad. Then the fans say Marsch is not up to it and shock horror he speaks American.
We need a new guy in with a higher success rate of signings. I can name lots of players who would perform no matter what club they went to. Shearer anyone? Mcginn at villa... Dunk at brighton... The brighton goalie... Peter beardsley... There are hundreds of players who are consistent every game. Yet we sign harrison a one in six game player. I had the pleasure (laugh) of watching him from near the touchline the second half v brighton. Believe me is rubbish. Yet fans diss Llorente who gave the ball to joffy to supply the goal for pascal. Oh and firpo is another junk signing. Orta has less that a 30% rate in my opinion.

Genuine question and it’s all about opinions. Do those who want him to stay honestly believe we can’t get better than orta. I suspect he’s not coming cheap either

Put it this way. With hundreds of contacts within the world game at his disposal I think anyone on here with a decent knowledge of football could do a good job of it. It’s not rocket science. Just need to be able to spot a decent player for the right money.

None of us have played professional football but then again neither has Orta.

If we get rid of Orta after sacking Bielsa and all his coaching staff leaving we'll leave ourselves practically rudderless on the football front.

Stability is what will be needed if we go down. Orta might not be everyones cup of tea but he knows the job and more importantly knows the club. Same goes for Jesse, let's give him and Victor the chance to bounce us straight back up <ok>

Ortas not a rudder, more of a dodgy oar. Plus if yanks ever take over they’ll throw him out anyway

It's really easy to look at other clubs and say they do great signings, we don't follow them so never hear of their failures.
Many clubs must look at us and think we pulled a masterstoke with Raphina.

    On Orta

All the best times at Leeds for decades has happened with Orta.

Yes some may not like him but he can only work with the cash given. Bielsa was a masterstroke but now apparently Bielsa isnt liked much. Well toughskyshitski

A shyt season with shyt performances and a lucky escape, but still in the prem

Lets see what happens next month because massive changes coming

    Very good point Doc.

We've survived so Orta get's the opportunity to enhance the squad again and build on his successes so far. Now that statement will infuriate some on here but they can go support a club that's 13th in the Championship if they prefer <laugh>

Without Orta we would not have got Bielsa.
And we would be still be in the 2nd tier swapping managers.
So he did a good job so far.
    Could do better ?
Of course, this summer he must prove his worth, not only with the incomings but be ruthless with the out goings.
If they are not good enough get rid.
    Cruel to be kind.

Got to stay for continuity and I do believe he genuinely cares. Yes he’s made some bad signings but we’re always going to have those. Got to remember that Rodrigo was Spains number 9 when we signed him and he’s been garbage so even the obvious signings don’t always work out. Keep him, Jesse won’t be as fussy as Marsch either so he’ll have a better scope of player to choose from I’d imagine and more funds this summer due to another year in the PL with fans this time and probably a departure of one of Phillips/Raphinha.
