Great way to celebrate an achievement at the end of a long season. Got some fantastic memories of our L1 promotion game vs Walsall.
There's dozens every season and the vast majority pass without incident. As I say it's a shame that a minority of idiots have to ruin it for everyone because they can't behave. Never understood why people would head for the opposition rather than celebrate with your own. Bizarre really.
Yeh see I don't get that part either, going over to the opposition players.
Either way if it keeps happening in prem games, and especially if incidents occur like we saw at Goodison they will find a way to clamp down on it, bans, maybe even fences again, dunno what else you could do to deter fans doing it really

Fences will never happen in this country and rightly so. People simply wouldn't accept it (and not just in Liverpool) imo.
It's a worrying trend for sure and I think it's in line with general worsening behaviour.
I'm still not sure what they can do really. For small ones you could issue bans and larger ones a reduced capacity for a game or two? Problem is as I said yesterday that if enough people want to go on you can't really stop it.
I wouldn't want to see clubs punished for small incursions as that's something that could be sabotaged by opposition fans.
I bet if they just docked Everton 3 points immediately it would stop it.

Everton can't handle the heat down the bottom. If they ever get relegated they'll realise it's not that bad you just want your team to win.. They'd not stay down..
I think we should be careful about making this solely a football issue as its not - it's part of a larger problem within society regarding worsening behaviour and you see it everywhere. Football is just a reflection of that as it's our biggest national pastime (particularly among the working class).
To amend the famous quote about Millwall, football is a convenient coat peg for society to hang its ills on. Look no further than this proposed legislation around cocaine and football for evidence of that.
I still think Covid has played a part in this. Ultimately if you lock people in their homes, deny them the ability to earn money, exercise properly, and restrict access to basic medical attention then that's going to have an affect on peoples psyche and behaviour. Not saying that makes it right but it's definitely a contributing factor imo.

I’d say social media is the biggest cause for a rise in idiocy and it’s been on the rise for years.
Mass gatherings with bad intentions can be arranged with a simple tweet/ post.
Videos that involve stupidity or harm or both go viral within seconds and end up with millions of views (and that can often lead to revenue and/ or popularity for the uploader), which then encourages others to follow suit or even one-up them.
Misinformation can easily be spread, people lap it up as gospel which then affects how they may view or treat certain people or act in particular situations or environments.
I’m a pretty avid Twitter user in the sense I use it a lot for news, mainly Spurs related but also news in general though it’s so easy to find darker related content if you know where to look and I’d imagine it’s probably the same for Facebook and other social media apps.
Said it a few times over the years but social media is a very ironic concept, as it generally makes people anti-social.
Agree completely mate, especially with that last bit. We've got a whole generation of people who lack basic communication skills because they live their lives through a screen.
I'd honestly ban the lot of them. Definitely causes more harm than good.
It really is damaging, other than this place I refuse to use social media.
Confession: I 'invaded' the pitch at Anfield on the last day of the season, 1977, against West Ham. We got a point and were confirmed champions. I say invade - we simply, slowly climbed over the hordings (I was in the Paddock), in some cases helped by the stewards. We all clapped the West Ham players as they walked back past us to the tunnel after applauding their fans in the Anny Rd end. One or two even shook hands with our fans on the pitch.
I was there in '89 for the Arsenal match too. I remember a few went on the pitch, but far from attacking Arsenal players, thousands of us stayed behind to applaud Arsenal as they paraded the trophy, to us as well as their own fans. And that's my point - I think Everton fans invaded the pitch when they won their semi against Bayern (?) in 1985 CWC, and I also remember them invading the pitch when they stayed up against Wimbledon in the 90's: I may be looking back through rose-tinted specs, but I simply can't remember opposition players being assaulted and harassed? That said, there were dickheads from all clubs that threw darts and golf balls at players, lighters and so forth, so I'm not saying it was all Disney and cuddles back then.
I was going to football around the same time as you, maybe a few years before, but like you, I can never ever remember the mentality to attack an opposition player. Yes, the mentality was there in some to attack an opposition supporter, but never ever a player. Players use to fight between themselves in them days, fans didn't need to get involved.
