Felt the same Fran, but whisper it, we look very impressive. Spoke to some Boro fans: said we'll walk league, our players are so big??? and pass the ball so well!!! Next 3 away games are against the bottom 3 sides is this league, got to make them count. Reading result?? one goal down, one player down, one point gained!!! Today's result has made last weeks result brilliant, we march on!!
Tbf, it's made this whole month brilliant. Derby, West Ham, Reading & Boro: unbeaten and 8 points gained (not to mention the 3 points right at the very start of the month vs Watford). Surely every single one of us would have taken 8 points at the start of these four game?
And it shows how far we've come that the first three games of that stretch and the five points gained against tough competition were being described as a wobble. Here's hoping that all of our wobbles are so successful!
8 points out of these last 4 games is a fantastic return, especially as possibly our best player and talisman was injured for 3 matches. We have now played the best that this league can offer, apart from Hull and Palace and there is nothing that we should be scared of. We deserve to be top, as we have been the best team so far and if we can maintain our superb home form, then I feel that it will take 2 teams to go on tremendous runs to deny us automatic promotion.
Sensational stuff. Guly and Lallana a different class. Made a good Middlesbrough side look sh*te by passing rings around them. Butterfield's crossing is delightful. Gutted for Guly that he didn't notch his third - off the post and to safety! So unlucky. Chaplow also deserves a mention, the best 75k we've spent under Cortese probably, unreal workrate. Absolutely loving it right now, never been happier with my team. Can you keep up Brighton? (or Pompey for that matter!)
I'm tempted to say that Chaplow couldn't possibly raise his game any higher than today....but then Darren Ferguson is coming to town on Tuesday!
I can honestly see Saints thumping Peterborough like City did to United. Saints could quite easily beat Peterbrough 6-1. That is not me being over confident. Peterborough's defence is awful + Saints have the best attack in the league = a lot of goals for Saints if they play to their potential
I only have one comment for today. Not constructive or unconstructive: "Southampton I LOVE YOU" I have been supporting the Saints for over 30 years and today was sublime. The way we are playing i just can't wait until the next game. In a non gay way (!), Nigel I LOVE YOU. NICOLA I LOVE YOU. AND FINALLY, MARCUS THANK YOU I WILL NEVER FORGET WHAT YOU DID AND I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!! - a happy saint
Agree with you there we could easily win 6-1 or 7-1 but we might just win 1-0 though because that's football but we should beat them by atleast 3 goals we beat them 4-1 last season
I have been supporting saints long enough to know their defenders will have worldies at st.marys. Mark my words.
Got great coverage on FL show today and comments showed they watched the same game as us. Praise for Chaplow...described as like signing a new player.
