Nunez turns down Manchester United and Newcastle United.
As i anticipated.
Hopefully people will now start being more realistic and drop the I don't wants just because they've convinced themselves they can sign much more unrealistic targets.
DCL played well last night.. Obviously getting back to fitness.. I don't think he'd join us though. Would've been possible if they went down.

I call him gamereas but I'm skipping breakfast these days.
Nunez was never realistic and no matter how many times people are told they simply cannot understand this isn't championship manager.
Nufc fans are being fooled by stories in the paper. We're miles off signing the likes of Nunez. Ie a striker in high demand.
I cannot believe I'm going to say this, but.......wait and see, you might be surprised.
What you shouldn't pay any heed to is how much these guys are going to cost. Particularly in Portugal, you can shave around 40% or more off their so-called "release clause". Sure, it's likely Nunez in particular won't end up here. I won't cry about it. But is it POSSIBLE? Yes, it is. Money talks and if there's an executive decision to gun for top 4 next season because of the uncertainty at Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal then the investors might go for it.
I think we'll end up next level down, in the end. But when you consider 'next level down' is still people like Patrick Schick, Alex Izak and Jonathan David, it's not a bad spot for a bit of fishing.
I'm always saying that football is actually fine margins. There's the top talent who are just apart from the rest, of course, but in the top-half-of-the-Premier-League bracket there's players in the Championship and probably even League One who could step up. Wood aside, maybe Nickson isn't bad. Joelinton has become a top level midfielder, Targett excellent, Burn better than the bench at Brighton suggested, Bruno's easily double what we paid, ASM was only £20m. Even in the likes of Almiron you can see what Nickson thought we were getting (vs Palace), but it's again those fine margins.
Long and short is, Nunez is not a world beater (yet), him joining someone else not guaranteed so we should - for the first time in 15+ years - be allowed to revel in dreams of big players, ambition and future glory. Let people dream of Nunez; it may not happen, but we're mentioned as interested and nobody is laughing, so enjoy it!
100% this with Nunez. Yes CL clubs may take a huge risk on him and at the kind of money Benfica are demanding there isn't going to be many. This type of player normally goes to a Dortmund type club before the big fish then spunk stupid money in a few years once they are proven. I don't see Dortmund chucking £70m at Benfica after they've already landed Adeyemni and are still hoping for a very late shot at Ekitike.
I can see this one rumbling throughout the summer as clubs hope the price drops and his agents get ever more desperate. At £70m you want the finished article, he isn't it.
We will see. If I was given a choice at Osimhen or Nunez for the same price then I'd go down the Osimhen route personally.

Just read that Phillips has a relegation release clause of £30m - That will cause one hell of a scramble im guessing if they go down.

We're going to go from one extreme (Ashley) to the other. Every, and I mean EVERY, agent is going to be using Newcastle as a name to get interest in their clients. Depay?! Nope. Prima donna, not a great character. Scamacca? Not a chance, lanky target man, average (at best) goals to game ratio.
It will likely help us through the Summer as clubs work out what agents are doing, which in turn then allows us to set about our business quietly.
On Henderson, I asked a couple of Man U fans their opinion. They basically said he was a solid shot stopper, poor distribution and prone to the odd clanger. Hard to find a better description of Dubravka, so I'm not sure we're interested - something Howe appeared to back up again today.

I was led to believe Henderson was, like you say, prone to errors but was really comfortable on the ball and distributing it from the back.
