Even after the 8-2 I said we'd still be good enough for a top 4 finish, the doom mongers were having a field day....but I've just quietly let our results do the talking
True I've been restrained though. Some of the things I'd like to have said to the doom mongers would have turned the air blue.
Even after the 8-2 we were never that bad. It was a terrible result, but we had a new team, loads of injuries and a really tough summer. It was a one off result. Our defending at the beginning of the season was bad, it's still a bit sketchy, but it was obvious that it was going to take time for the new players to gel. The doom mongers were out in force, some of them were even talking about relegation Bad defending again cost us at Blackburn, but I still had faith that we were not far off, football is about fine margins and we just needed to defend better. 8 wins out of 9 later and faith is being proved to be rightly placed. We still need to defend better, but going forward we look really dangerous. I think the defending will come, especially now TV is back. Kos is looking good and Mert is getting better. We'll have our fullbacks in the team again in the second half of the season, so it's looking good. Oh and there's Wilshere to come back too
