Jorge Nicola claims that Lucas is going to let his contract run down and rejoin Sao Paulo In the summer of 2024...
Think Aarons could be moulded into a decent Conte wingback. He’s not progressed as much as I thought he would though, albeit it doesn’t help playing in a yo-yo side. I’d take Raphinha over Lucas and Bergwijn too, in a rotation with Son/ Kulusevski would provide some really good wide options I’d feel. No one else really stands out from those sides. Maybe Calvert-Lewin to backup Kane but that’s about it.
I’ve said it many times but the free transfer market is where I think the club should really look at. You can literally more or less build a Champions League calibre squad. Onana Mazroui, Rudiger, Christensen, Romagnoli Kessie, Eriksen Bale, Dybala, Dembele Mbappe Johnstone, Tarkowski, Felipe, Pogba, Isco, Perisic, Di Maria, Belotti, Origi With the exception of a natural LB (said in the past there’s seemingly a lack of good ones in general, free or not), that team does damage. One or two of these have already pre-agreed deals elsewhere to be fair but it shows the level of quality that can be snapped up this summer if you make the right offer.
Norwich - probably Aarons would be the one to consider Watford - probably not, Joao Pedro was talked up as a talent at one point and is young but he’s never really talked about now Leeds - plenty. Phillips is a very good player, not sure he offers the creativity we need in a double pivot but good as a holder if we wanted to transition and play 352 with 2 8s. Jack Harrison and Raphinha are good further forward. Meslier gets talked up as a GK prospect a lot but with Johnstone coming in and Lloris secure as first choice for the time being I wouldn’t be fussed right now. Burnley - some decent PL players in there, Dwight McNeil is the pick of the bunch though. I like him and he’s young too. Everton - DCL is the obvious one, though injuries an issue? Anthony Gordon looks like he has something about him too. I don’t think the others are really in it anymore. Southampton maybe as they’re inconsistent but their players are talked about enough already. As DH says too there’s some strong players available on a free this summer too. Some are already wrapped up of course but you’d expect Paratici to be shifting around.
Norwich: Aarons Watford: King Leeds: Phillips, Raphinha, Harrison Burnley: McNeill Everton: Calvert Lewin, Gordon, Gray Southampton: Ward Prowse, KWP Leicester: Tielemans, Pereira, Ndidi
Going to be ridiculous, isn’t it. Leaves Kane in an interesting situation too. Regardless of how tied his future is to Conte, I’m not sure what his options are now if he wanted out.
Rumour doing the rounds that Gavin Bazunu wants to leave City. Wants first team football and would prefer to move rather than take another loan. Would love it if we could somehow persuade him to become Lloris' successor. Exceptional for the Republic, who have three excellent young keepers.
Can't imagine why he didn't sign for the team whose fans sing about the time some ****head who played for them broke his father's leg
Looks like Bayern are going in for Konrad Laimer to go with the two they’re getting from Ajax, so that likely scuppers any move for him. Shame as he’s a talent and I think would have worked very well for Conte.
He's certainly the improvement on Hojbjerg we need for clutch situations, given his passing and tackling are both that much more on point Oh well, back to Svanberg and Nandez...
Sky going big on City now being untouchable because they have just signed ' the best striker in the world' He is not even the best striker in his current league! I won't deny that he has huge potential, but the premier league has proved a tough nut to crack for plenty of players who have not made it here I think he will do well, but it might take time Sky have even wheeled out the quite aptly named Dickov to give us his amazing insight into the signing
I'm old enough to remember relegation, losing 5 nil at home to Arsenal and 7 nil away to Liverpool. I remember it taking 3 games to beat non league Altrincham in the FA Cup in 1979. I remember losing 4-1 to lower league Burnley in the 1/4 final of the league Cup at home in 83. I remember losing 6 nil at home to Chelsea and 6-1 at home to Sheffield United. Oh and 3rd Division Port Vale knocking us our of the FA Cup in 89 and us losing 7-1 to Newcastle. League 2 Grimsby knocking us out of the league Cup is still fresh in my mind along with lower league Leicester beating us 3-2 in the FA Cup when we had been 2 up. Then there was the Man City come back against us in the fa cup in 2004 (3 up at ht against 10 men and still lost 4-3 ffs) and the 2-7 homw battering in the CL and getting knocked out of the League Cup by Colchester. There are plenty of other similar memories. I learned to live with and embrace these embarrassments but buying the fashion obsessed twat that is Calvert-Lewin is one shame I'd never recover from
