I'm seeing too many of these lately, I don't know if the media are more focused on them, or whether lockdown is to blame. I was reading a story yesterday of poor toddler killed, by his stepdad I think it was, and they used covid as a cover from social service inspections. His bedroom became his dungeon or something, involving the mum, stepdad, and 14 year old lad as well! 14 ffs and party to murder.
I don’t think many could argue against bringing back the death penalty for **** like this.
Pure evil.
I read about this today. Apparently the nurse who visited said he'd be dead that weekend unless social stepped in. He was under a Child Protection order. A review stated he had a 0/10 chance of surviving under his current environment. And the school seemed not to be bothered by his shockingly low attendance having been privy to all the details of the CP.
They're all culpible. Why wasn't he removed from her the moment they held their first multi-agency meeting. Disgraceful.
because they don't have the facilities for all the children they would take into care if they did that .
Foster carers and safe houses are limited in supply but they do take them into care. I've seen it first hand. And the decision to do so is based on immediate risk of harm. So not all are taken into care. It is on a case by case basis. In this instance, given the advice of other professionals involved they should have.
It's cheaper to leave children at home. Failing that they tend to put them with extended families (even if they are not able to care for the child) cos that's cheaper than than taking them into care.
By time this is corrected the mentsl snd emotional damage to the child has been exponentially magnified and can cause the child difficulties that follow them into adulthood.
The standard of acceptable parental care has completely changed. Children remain with parents on the basis that they are fed and clothed and issues of being left alone, not being taken to school, drug/ alcohol addiction and domestic violence are ignored.
Children who are clearly experiencing some form of neglect, abuse or trauma are routinely removed from the child protection register against the advice of school, medical staff or other professionals.
Staff in schools are trained to "think the impossible is possible" when it comes to child protection. We have to report any concerning behaviour that could indicate an issue (violence, bruising or marks, children appearing very hungry all the time, dirty appearance, sexualised talking, watching of inappropriate materials, playing of adult games like GTA etc ) yet the local authority simply dismiss most by claiming it don't meet the threshold.
That's why these awful stories about kids keep happening and unfortunately, until more money is spent on getting more professional foster carers to care for these children, it will continue.

Of course children are taken into caremy point is the facilities are limited so lots of children are left in situations known to be dangerous. Personally there isn't enough money in the world to persuade me to be a child Social Worker in this country .

I'm not saying you need to become a social worker, but those who are, have made that choice and that means taking the responsibility to protect the children in their care.
Have you read the article? They had decided, far too late, to remove him... so it was going to happen. They should've done so earlier. They've taken her other 3 children so this idea they couldn't have done so with him is clearly nonsense... it just took his death for them to actually do what they should've done in the first place.
There's also the outcomes of the serious case review due out and they're already saying there were serious failings. When you read everything that happened, and the fact even at that late stage there were professionals saying he should be removed immediately and even then they left it until after the weekend, the details are damning.
It's really immaterial what's happening on a general basis. If all we think is, well they can't protect every child, then that's just a bollox attitude tbh. We might as well just give up. Would anyone accept that if it was their loved one? Nah fck that.

and there is no way the facilities are available to do that .Just because i point out the reality of the present situation does not mean i think it should be that way .
They were available mate, because after he died they put the other 3 kids into care. Facilities in this case were there. And they had decided they were going to take him away so they must've had somewhere, but they left it too late.
Where I've been harsh is to say they were all culpible. There were clearly at least 2 professionals who wanted him out that very day and should've been listened to.
Just the government letting big pharna grow weed.

First I've heard of this btw. If they're genuinely looking to explore all its medicinal benefits then its a massive step forward.
