He can talk-train-guide- but if those donkeys the majority can't learn or more importantly don't want to learn then he is banging his head against a brick wall. Nige has managed players at a lot higher calibre than our lot for the majority of his management time. As said you are never going to get donkeys to turn into stallions.
Cancer has spread throughout the football club it needs cleansing and unless Nige Pearson is going to do it we are in freefall.
We have some quality players, but what we don't have, and for me was a big weakness from LJ's signings are a couple of big horrible barstools in the side - think Sol Bamba etc.. LJ signed placid, mild manner characters to replace the likes of Pack and Flint, and seems NP has done the same in Klose, King, James etc. We need some dressing room shakers to support the management, and I don't see it any of the players we have now, regardless of who signed them.
We've needed someone like that for years - I suppose Baker (when/if fit) is the closest we have (had) of late
To a degree, but I don't see Baker as the 'Roy Keane' in the dressing room type. He is also quite placid; you need a bit of a looney at times to get into the team when things aren't going well. That isn't Baker, or any of them.
Leadership has been missing for years and I can't see any among this sad lot that could ever fit that mantra. Roy Keane is the modern definition of the term along with Der Kaiser and many others and how many times did I post that we needed a midfield general but he never arrived. We don't need a has-been or an over hyped egotist to fill the vacancy but rather a dedicated professional who has a history of meeting targets and has the inter-personal skills to get the message out on the pitch without upsetting rattle throwers. Personal injury prone players need to be given a wide berth because although I liked Baker's play his issues far out stretched his on field value. I can remember one of the rare games that I attended we had a fairly new player in Clayton Blackmore ex Man Utd and his mid-field play was top class and it makes me ask is there not players like him looking to prove a point, or 93?
LJ replaced Flint with a the big lump Bailey Wright giving him the 5 shirt and club captaincy. Not his best decision.
The last real leader on the pitch I remember at BS3 was Shaun Taylor. Carey and Tinnion came close but Taylor was the last ‘real’ leader - and he was past his best when we had him too
We need a Gerry Gow/Tommy Doc figure in midfield with the verbal and physical aggression but not the regular bookings and sendings off
Like it or not what he says is absolutely on the button. @BristolCity have been a soft touch for a very very long time and until it is sorted it is never going to change. Even if NP walks or gets fired the same old same old issues will still be here.
