1. Don’t think Howe could do much.
2. The players let him down.
=
3. You’re right to criticise Howe.

See the gaps in the logic?
I think it’s fair the praise and criticise. You take the rough with the smooth.

Where I work if I do a good job. I’m doing my job.

If I make mistakes people lose their jobs.

It’s the harsh reality we live in. And we are all big boys and should accept things when it goes wrong.

I do blame Howe today because he made so many mistakes.

I also blame the players because they didn’t play well.

We scored and at that point we seemed ok. Then we fell apart. Howe didn’t react fast enough.

He made some shocking subs.

He takes the flack because that’s his job.

No the fact remains that Howe is ultimately the manager and the buck stops with him.

If you want to credit managers when the side does well then you there's nothing wrong with criticism of the manager when they lose.

That's just fair and anything other than that is mental gymnastics.
Totally agree. I might in fact be harsh on Howe today because they do have much better players.

But compared to our previous performances this goes down as a shocker.

Look at Brentford yesterday.

In the end we looked like a team of players who couldn’t give a ****.

And we all have to accept that Wood is a dreadful player.

P.S thanks for sticking up for me :emoticon-0115-inlov

You're wasting your time with this guy mate. He's gone after you there and you've done nothing wrong.

I didn't like the way we approached that and I agree the subs not only came late, but also made the situation worse

Nobody is saying calling Howe names or hounding him out... Tottenham are just. Better side, but that's a luxury folders afforded Bruce after that kind of display.

I never expected points from this one. Spurs are currently a different level to us. But I didn't necessarily expect a drubbing where we barely even compete.

We may have spent £90m in January, but the big teams have been spending that kind of money for multiple seasons now. Overall our squad simply isn't good enough yet - regardless of who the manager is and what tactics they use. Most of our squad are simply relegation level players, so you cant expect rests away to Spurs.

We just need to do enough to survive this season, they we can start to look at the longer term project.

Nb mate.

The last two performances have been poor, so there's no harm in pointing things out.

Howe's done a brilliant job so far though.

This is the thing if you'd offered me this situation on Feb 1st I'd have bitten your arm off.

We've got a few good hidings left and need a couple of scrappy results and then our new beginning commences

I agree. The balance is we are lucky to be where we are.

We just need to grind out another 6-9 points and we should be safe and that’s all that matters this season now.

Come the end of this season if we are 17th then that’s job well done for Howe.

I'm not going to listen to you boy me about that when you refused to credit bruce for finishing 12th and performing well for 11 games mate.

That's the difference between me and you.. I just keep it simple and say well done when the sides doing well and vice versa

There's no agenda I don't care who's in the dugout...

Also I haven't criticised Howe I've defended GG from you.
Well don’t respond to my posts. Simples.

I’ve never said don’t criticise Howe. I’ve said he doesn’t deserve “flack” which is destructive criticism as opposed to constructive criticism. Howe, I believe, has earned that. Again concentrate on what I actually say, it helps.

So after all this you concede you might have been harsh on Howe which is all that I have been saying.

But everyone just compare Wood to Kane and Son.

Worlds apart.

Not just wood, but Fraser, ASM and then Murphy when he came on. We have one really good player - Bruno - a few decent players - Targett, Willock, Joelinton - then the rest.

Joelinton is starting to fade away from this purple patch midfield spell. ASM is just too easy to deal with for PL defenders. Fraser was ****ing rank today, with a capital W. Jonjo did what @Darren Peacock's Ponytail said he would and eventually played as bad as he usually does.Willock the only one with a shred of credit and even then he missed two good chances.

Wood, though. Jesus Christ, he’s comfortably the worst value player I’ve seen in the PL era. Not just for Newcastle either, but possibly of any team. £25m for him. He needs to be dropped. His only possible impact is supposed to be winning headers or holding the ball up, particularly if you can’t score or even shoot. He was ****ing abominable and has been three games running, and repeatedly since signing. You might as well go with Joelinton or a youth player, he’s incomprehensibly bad.

So after all this you concede you might have been harsh on Howe which is all that I have been saying.
I’m not sure if I am honest. I want to be angry because that was a bad performance. And a balanced mind days that’s a one off.

But we have lost our last 3 games and this was a thumping.

I gave him a lot of credit getting us where we are right now/ but I also have to give him criticism when we play THAT badly mate.

You must agree surely that second half was terrible.

He looks like a panic signing for me if I am honest and the fact is it seems to have destroyed Burnley in the process.

So I guess we pulled a key player from them and even though he is being crap for us they seem to be missing him.

It may even be crucial for our survival. Not him playing well for us but him not playing for them.

Weird!

It's certainly relegation form in the last 3 games.

We were unlucky to lose against Chelsea. But against Everton (fellow relegation contenders) we simply weren't up for it as much as they were.

Today we were just poor. Nowhere near the standard of Spurs and looked like relegation candidates.

It's going to feel like a long run in to the season. We're not safe yet.

I can't disagree with this....the worst part is that shelvey will survive and bruno Joelinton or willock will pay the price
