It's the gift you get for the person who has everything and I guess they don't care whether it's real or not. Talking about naming things, I have always wanted to name a zoo animal. Weird?
Seems to me that the people most likely to profit from this will be copyright lawyers. Most people have no idea how copyright works and they could be breaking it l,r and c with this one.
I dunno. I'm sure there are lots of scientists who'd love a comet or a frog in the amazon bearing their name. I'm sure it's quite a common one.
A friend of mine tried to get a storm named after his wife. He said it was more appropriate than a star...
Just in case it wasn't clear, I don't want a zoo animal named after me. I would like to choose a name for a newborn panda or kangaroo or any animal really. I don't know where it came from but I have a bit of a name fetish eg I read every name at the end of a film.
This just depends if you look up or down. Simple science really. usually botanists look down at their feet and astrophysicists look up at the stars. And yes, you tend to see less but that shouldn't deter an Amazonian from looking for comets. #don'tshattertheirdreams
