Gooner in peace

What do you think of him? I personally believe it's a toss up between him and Wojcech Szczesny as best young keeper in world football at the moment. As you're fans of a team who usually have pretty good keepers, do you think he has the ability to become a great for your club?

I do. He's got sensational reactions (saving a number of deflected shots, some even in the 6 yard box) and when he's on form, you just will not score past him. Kicking needs some work and he's still not trained himself to be two footed, but he's already one of the best keepers around. Surprised by how good Szczesny has become as well.

He's a fantastic young keeper with a lot of potential... i just hope other clubs don't come in for him :S

Has the potential to be a real world class keeper. He keeps improving month by month and works hard at ironing out the creases in any part of his game that needs it. Last season he had glimpses of greatness but this season so far he has really come alive and pulled off a series of brilliant saves almost every game, he'll certainly become a great in the PL and world football and I hope he stays with us for as long as we can keep him!

Some may think I am jumping the gun a bit but I think he is easily capable of starting ahead of Stekelenburg in the Euros next summer. Krul is absolutely class and there are several stats to back this up. I think he and Szczesny are on a par with Joe Hart and possibly Petr Cech, although I would still rank Pepe Reina and Shay Given as slightly better.

Not jumping the gun at all. He is class

I'd say Michel Vorm is maybe ahead of him in the international race, never really rated Stekelenburg. Krul also has to watch out for Ken Vermeer, the current Ajax keeper. I've heard he's pretty talented himself.

I don't know enough about European football to say that he is one of the best young GK's in the world, but if he carries on like he's been playing for the rest of the season he'll be the best young GK in England.

His instinctive shot stopping is brilliant and he'll put his body on the line for us. His main weakness up until this season was coming out for crosses into a crowded box and mis-judging it, but he's really sorted this out and now commands his area very well.

Huge improvement since the start of last season, long may it continue.

I think Krul is a better keeper than Vorm, who is admittedly brilliant. Krul has more of an all-round game, he has really improved his distribution and coming for crosses.

Correct:

@OptaJoe
23 - Tim Krul has caught more high balls into his box than any other Premier League goalkeeper. Leap.

Before the Liverpool match in May Krul was always quite slow with his distribution but since then he has seemed to of learnt from Reina and looks to distribute the ball much quicker now. His kicking is still a bit dodgy though but that is his only real weakness which can easily be improved.

I would not swap Krul for any other GK in the league because his current ability is in the top 5 already and he has the potential to easily be the best in the league and also in the world.

Krul has the potential to be better than van der Sar and is not far behind him right now in ability.
