Surely the extra money is not worth tainting his status at this club for. It's not as if he's short of a few bob
If he hasn't signed by the start of summer then he should be sold. Can't risk it dragging on and going for free
300k per week (more) as he could ask those guys for at least 500k per week over 5 years. 78million quid.....before we ever talk about image rights. Oh i think the extra money REALLY matters mate. Whether its filthy oil money from PSG or newcastle it won't really matter.
totally agree. Get the CL final won and then push him straight out of the door (of the parade bus if necessary )
The bigger risk is that he simply will not perform at the same level, because few work with the same system that we employ. (See Coutinho, Gini et al)
in the end all he wanted is lfc to pony 400k for 4 or 5 years. if we did that 6 months ago the risk of the massive cliff would be a bit less.. the longer this goes on the less we are likely to pony up. so the club are content enough to keep this going. if you were absolutely sure he'd be mo salah still at 33 and not a shadow of mo salah taking massive wages i'd pay it. but we can't be sure so we need to think hard. At this point i'd be happy to give him 400k for 2 further years if he is willing and let him on after that. if he's not willing then sell as there is ALWAYS another way and another player. poeple make too much of one guy contributing x goals and x assists when teams become set up to play through them. Messi had to go. ronadlo had to go. real are better for it. barca are getting better. we will change and adapt.
If he scores and assists in every game till the end of the season, then yes he will be worth that contract. He won't though and no one performs at that level and is deserving of that money. Look at Ronaldo, scores a few, but doesn't really contribute much. Yet he gets paid astronomical amounts. Just because you used to be good, doesn't mean you are worth more and more. It's not an educational field where your experience only increases over time. As you decline, so does your salary.
zouma 150k thats 50k less than salah today for nothing i can see. Stelring 350k a week. grealish 300k a week 100k- 150k per week every week more than salah, for what reaosn? the fact is that whether you and i agree nobody is actually worth that or not; they are paid his much for a variety of reasons (some of which even in volce contributions on the park) Salah looks about and sees players who are not half the player he is getting double the wages. IMO thats the issue. this is his last pay day.
Not at Liverpool he doesn’t. And if looks around enough, he’ll see how Coutinho left and failed, Gini too…. the sword has two sides and all of that….he has to decide what he wants and if it’s purely financially driven, then that’s his choice and he can f#ck off with a thanks but no statue lol
I mean, why would he? If he suddenly became crap, we would kick him to the curb without a thought. He's got five years or less to earn the bulk of the rest of his lifetime earnings. He might stay for 20k a week less. But 150k a week less... No, he's gone. Honestly, I would not hold it against him in the slightest.
loyalty, fit, love of the club, silverware, playing for Klopp, Anfield, the fans, the fact that he’s already earning millions, (he doesn’t need the money, does he?) he fact that he would, by far, be the highest paid Liverpool player ever…… many reasons why but none are financially tangible and none will overcome pure greed….and make no mistake, that it what it is when a player moves for purely financial reasons when they are already earning vast sums (its this point that is missed often) Of course he’s entitled to do what he wants, that’s his choice but the minute he says it’s the clubs choice, which he will (they all do), then he will lose any good will from me - I’d rather he was just honest and say he was purely moving for the millions more than the millions we pay him. I feel sorry for fans who idolise players when this happens, they are the losers here.
well i'm sure coutinho would comment that he won 2 la ligas, 1 copa del rey, 1 bundesliga, 1 german cup and 1 cl. plus of course being a key memebr of the brazil copa team in 2019. so while we might contend he's a hanger on/sub nobody wants and has ended up at aston villa he might say he's been paid more to win more and has done well for himself. It is swings and roundabouts. I would be happy just to see a few more titles for klopp and hopefully during this season after that I think these guys can justify anything to themselves (and be defended while they do it)
I don't think Salah will leave. He's a good man. I think his agent is pushing it as hard as he can to squeeze the maximum out of the club based on comparisons with other world players. I think a compromise will be reached. I also think the uncertainty is affecting Salah's performance. Signing a new deal also writes him into club history and gives him iconic status, something Owen missed out on.
owen who? For me there was this young fella who borke though and I can distinctly recall he debuted as 17 year old and then there was this massive contract announcement on opening day and the crowd made a massive cheer. whoever it was won the balon d'or and was a far far bigger name than his erstwhile colleague gerrard. In fact gerrard went on to not win many medals while being a legend and probably earned less than he could have. So who would we rather be? Steven gerrard with a league cup, CL and fa cup medal to show for his later career form 2004 onwards or Some no mark who's name i can't recall who won a premier league and league cup with a side that shall never be mentioned. But then not every player can be a legend like gerrard.
Well, it depends on what he contributed to those wins. Do I need to remind you who won a CL medal for us in 2005? ultimately though, you’re right, they have so much money, very few really care about decisions they make.
We've all played on sunday league teams i'm sure where some arse turned up for the cup final etc on the last week and min made the bench or started and picked up the medal and ****ed off then thinking they were it. contribution is over rated imo. you can be a rhian brewster and have a LC medal somehow due to a squad numbering system or you can be a coutinho who played 11 CL games for bayern to win his or 23 league games.. or you could be a mo salah who will want to play every single game and socre in every single one. but in the mists of time it all fades into them all being ex players in their dotage talking about thier medals.
