Yeah it was a shocker. You have to wonder, Russell has all the motivation in the world as he steps up from williams but Hamilton imo won't have the motivation to tool.aboit as also ran like vettel or raikkonen. I watched the lap comparison and Hamilton just wasn't attacking the lap really. Russell gains half his time.in turn 1 and 2 but Hamilton then just tooled round the rest.
Do you think it’s anything to do with the fact he is driving in SA ? I think it must be on his mind . If he was young and keen , maybe no effect , but the fact he has commented on their human rights record makes me wonder .
doubt it since under Ecclestone became almost a tour of despots and it didn't seem to bother him in terms of his performance . tbf the same criticism could be levelled at most sports who have taken money from in particular the middle east - the cycling world road race championship in iirc Doha was an absolute farce
Fair comment , I just wonder if his priorities in life are changing . As I have said before they ( FIA And liberty ) are all chasing the mighty 23 races this season. Do me a fing favour Ecclestone did a LOT of good for the teams , but ended up e]with too much power .
Who knows. He was fine racing there to win to go for a championship less than 6 months ago. Not much has changed in Saudi Land in that time. There's a difference in motivation there and frankly if you add up fighting for one point maybe plus bombs going off and all the rest then yeah it could well be But on the other hand Russell is desperate to impress so maybe he is out performing the car as well. Where all the merc cars are says a lot here. Be it the e10 fuel or whatever I don't know.
Ecclestone became a crook (always was on the dodgy side of the line ) though one who turned F1 from a European "sport" into a much more widespread entity even if europe is still the "heart" of F1
Europe is only where the team factories are. The harvest is outside Europe. The real racing is not seen as the tracks are not raced at. The reality is some rich Arabs will have dined and ignored the show last week and then will swan out to present a trophy for a picture and a bit of sports washing. Same as putin at sochi. Zero interest is racing whatsoever
I know i was watching F1 in the 70's but even in his early days he was considered a bit of a wide boy . I was at this race and we had no ****ing idea of what had happened as the tannoys were even worse than 1970s British rail ones
Fixed. Though I have no idea if in fact putin likes a rave. I know he has no interest in f1 racing though
Feel sorry for Perez, I reckon he'd have wron but for that safety car. Definitely looking like a Ferrari/Le Clerc vs Red Bull/Max season
