Mentioned this to one of my mates. His response? 'I thought he had already retired when he went to Sunderland!' Manc barsteward
All very fair mate. Have to say I wasnt in the camp of thinking Defoe would be enough, quite the opposite. Not a told you so, and I still hope to be proven wrong. I do though suspect most head coaches wouldnt have put all their eggs in that basket. Everything said about Johnsons departure hints at disagreements with those paying his wages. I didnt see any evidence of him and the players falling out personally, not saying it didnt happen, but I dont think anything like that showed on the pitch. If anything Johnson protected them too much I think. He certainly could have rotated youngsters more, and I do think some played too much football and we signed players that had played non. Agree there is no guarantee we would have more points if Neil was in for those 2 games, or if Johnson was kept in. I do think it is highly likely though and I think it was 2 games the hierarchy took far too lightly and assumed players could just turn up and win without leadership and direction. Almost like they were thinking it was a game on a park where strongest 11 players on paper wins. You are right though, I shouldnt just point to those 2 games. Under Johnson we threw silly points away when we should have seen games out and under Neil we have dropped points we should not have. It is an accumulation, but I still cant help thinking other clubs wouldnt have allowed themselves be in that position for 2 games.
Good points marra and I can sense the fine lines between success and failure. Still worried if Stewart picks up an injury between now and the end of the season.
Yes,me too. I've been called out on here about our players being selected for Internationals, but, if he comes back from Scotland with a knock,....****ing livid!

Doesn't train much at all. Maybe 1_2 sessions a week. I mean it's not uncommon for older players to train less.
Wasn't Stefan Shcwarz out for ages too, or did I just dream that? Whatever, although I'm pleased for the players of course, I'd prefer none of our players got international call-ups.
No statements from the club and a copy and paste from Jermain’s statement. One would speculate this isn’t amicable but we are pretending it is.
he’s been on sky lots recently. I reckon he’s seen how much they’re paying him for one off fees and weighed it up against the benefits he’s getting being third choice here and made his decision
