The BOTTOM KNOCKER (a young boy) made the base of the saggar from a lump of fireclay which he knocked into a metal ring using a wooden mallet or mawl (pronounced mow). I once met a Saggar Makers Bottom Knocker on a visit to Twyfords fireclay works in Stoke. Sadly, the great days and greater names of Stoke ceramics are gone now. So, The Potters with their formidable attacking lineup of Eastham, Crooks and Crouch along with Banks in goal, visit the CCS for an encounter with little riding on it. Another club that's had a topsy turvy season and not doing so well recently. It'll be interesting to see if SM feels he can rely on his defence not getting caught on the break and consequently be able to have a go with a high press game. It's all a work in progress and my guess is he'll try for another clean sheet. Incidentally, Peter Crouch's wife won Strictly Come Dancing a few years back. And why is Delilah their theme tune? Something you want to tell us Sir Tom? Bloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooobirds
They're on plus 3, we're on minus 12. A 15 goal swing to come level, 16 go go above them. 5 puts them on minus 2, us on minus 7. 8 puts them on minus 5 us on minus 4. Could be wrong, maths never my strong point.
Just a bit of respectful, social history relevant to our opponents. Or, just me keeping up my history of inadequate match day threads.
Went to Stoke for the away game ended 3-3 but I must admit they had the best pies I've tasted and only £3-50 to boot.
Well, I take it all back. I honestly thought it would be a slig tonight but we are playing some decent stuff again at the moment. Cracking finish by Hugill and a lovely move for our equaliser by Doyle. C'mon the City!!!
