I've spoken to people in real life and online and it seems like there's a bit of hate starting to come towards this guy. Before he got injured, there was a statistic that proved that no one has covered more ground in the PL this season than ASM besides Declan Rice. He works hard. He can't defend for ****, but that's not his fault. His recent performances have been poor, but he's been injured recently and has probably been played when not even fully fit. Like it or not he's been involved in more goals this season than anyone else and has gotten us some very vital points. So to recap - 1. Covered more ground than anyone else in our squad 2. Been involved in more goals than anyone else in our squad. 3. Is getting hate now because of his sub apps when he's probably not even fully fit. 4. The last game where people were complaining about him vs Chelsea we had 27% possession in a 5-4-1 formation, and in the final 25 minute we were still mainly in our own half. This is the first stupid decision I've seen eddie make really. Bringing on ASM in this situation was stupid.
It'll be Joelinton again soon.... Unfortunately fans bully people they think they're entitled to do so.
I never said that, but when you get people saying that they hope he's sold then it's an issue. Like I said, no one in our side has been more involved with goals, and no one in our side has covered as much ground.
Saying things directly to him isn't right but people can say get rid. I'd keep for now, but soob we'll have a better player.
personally I don’t rate him that highly. Not saying get rid but he has an awful lot to work on. To me he’sa luxury player that we can ill afford at the moment and when we can afford it he’ll be a back up to the back up
He's good to watch but not a team player and not the fittest player either. If he was a grafter or had a good engine he'd be a much more valuable player
He’s too selfish. The truly good luxury players know when to pass, cross or take the man on. ASM just blindly runs. Laurent Robert was a luxury player in a luxury team and was different class and we could afford him. HBA was a luxury player in a team we could not afford him however, and don’t tell @Ben 10 this, but here he more or less was worth the risk.
Tash just hasn't quite gotten the level of club we are aiming to be. Still no vision. A top club wouldn't take ASM, he hasn't improved since he first kicked a ball at NUFC. I wanna win some ****ing pots before I die or our consortium is kicked out for something. ASM dribbling about the pitch tryna win himself an imaginary ballon d'or isn't going to do **** for us. If we were skint and ****, he'd be looking to move in the summer. We are no longer skint and ****, and should be looking to improve players in every single category every time we can.
Max is an excellent player still young and missing proper coaching at a vital age. Yes he has flaws but like Joelinton, Fraser and others we should give Max time to be coached properly by Howe before making any lasting decisions.
The fans didn't allow Joelinton time. They were horrible to him and he fought through it to become what he is now. Will max do that? I doubt it I think he'll roll around alot. But yeah he's still one of our best players and can get better
It was only five minutes ago he said he didn’t want to be in relegation fights any more. As if he was better than us. Which under the prior regime he probably was. We won’t be now. He needs to match “our” ambitions now. When he goes on a run and loses the ball because he does to much and dives it puts us under serious pressure. He just needs to work on his game and realise it’s not the ASM show anymore.
Great going forwards, lovely to watch on the ball but a complete and utter liability going the other way. All we ask is players give 100% and Maxi does not do that, the lad plays for himself - almost as though he thinks there's a trophy for the amount of players dribbled past. He is a professional athlete that had to do 25 mins work this week and failed to help his team out when they needed him. He can hit Usain Bolt pace while chasing the ball or dribbling going forwards, taking players on but going backwards he does that pathetic limp jog he does. Even if he didn't make tackles, jockeyed or pressed etc. if he'd just bust a gut to get back in and get in the defensive shape with the rest of the team he wouldn't get as much stick. Honestly think Matt Ritchie would have been a better option vs Chelsea and that's not ASM fault but he is the only one capable of showing a bit of desire to get stuck in, roll his sleeves up and put a tackle or decent press in. Edit: Just to clarify this was Howe's mistake at the weekend but Maxi needs to show more on his defensive application in general.
I think he works pretty hard but needs to forget trying to do everything on his own. Got to get his head up more and learn to play in a system. If Howe can work with him on this he's still got potential to be deadly. Definitely keep.
He is our best player after Trippier, he will be important next season aswell, season after that if he isn't improving we could move him on, but not now. Once we get to Europe we will need a bigger squad anyway.
