Mallorca would be similar flight time to southern Spain wouldn’t it?
As its higher up, I don't think it guarantees the sun in May. Worth checking though.

....actually there's not a lot of difference, which also brings in Ibiza. Somewhere we've wanted to go to. Anyone know best fairly quiet resorts in Ibiza?

Never been to Ibiza myself, supposed to be some lovely quieter parts

most unusual places I've been to for vacation are Greenland - which was a visit around Kangerlussuaq on the icecap looking at the wildlife - touring Rwanda looking at the different apes, monkeys and birdlife but in particular the gorillas and a two week work detail on St Kilda west of the Hebrides again spending time looking at the wildlife as well as undertaking repairs to the deserted village which was evacuated around 1930

Rovinj in Croatia fits the bill ,really quiet and laid back.It was originally a fishing village and retains a lot of its historical old buildings and character. The flights from Doncaster are early morning and return lunch time and it’s a two hour flight .NB it is hilly in the old town if that would sway your choice .My wife has just recommended Porto Pollenca in Majorca which again has good Donny flights great restaurants a very laid back atmosphere and is flat have a look at hotel Uyal we’re we stayed last September.

I've been to Pollensa several times,it's very nice but the transfer time is an hour/hour and a half...Maybe too much after the flight?

I stayed Pula Suites in Mallorca, near Cala Bona. Nice villa style rooms on three levels. It is has a golf course and is a ten minute drive to the beach.

I dived next to a very nice looking hotel in Ibiza at Cala Pada, there is basically a beach and odd hotel beach bar. Never seen anyone selling joints openly on a beach before though! We stayed in Es Cana, polluted beach and the hotel wasn't great.

Menorca is worth a look. Insotel Punta Prima Prestige Suites and Spa.

The best hotel with transfer times for me was Hotel Croatia in Cavtat Croatia it is on a hill.

Could have saved on flying time and just visited Moderation on Carr Lane! :emoticon-0100-smile

What about northern Spain? Blanes is a lovely little fishing village and there’s always Barcelona for good day out?
I remember going there with Beverley Travel, 40 years ago. Went with a long standing girlfriend, but she finished with me on the coach journey there!, Interesting fortnight, but not sure I'd ever want to return (esp with Mrs A).

Cavtat is really nice. 30 minute boat trips along the coast to Dubrovnik. Stayed at Hotel Albatross (same week as we played & got beat by Croatia in the final!!) No hills to contend with if stay at Hotel Albatross; easy walk into the town centre. It's just Hotel Croatia that's up a steep hill.

Lovely area Cavtat

We have booked Antalya in Turkey for a week all inclusive.

Just wonder how much cash would be good to take? We obviously want to do a few excursions while we are they.
