Completely agree.
Loved watching us under him until the CL final but I think he has a real issue getting over the final hurdle... winning anything in France with PSG ranks with winning something in Scotland with the old firm for me.

No way should he be doing worse in CL with PSG than with spurs.

And after Lo Celso, Aurier, Ndombele, Nkoudou, Janssen, Clarke, Njie etc (over £150m on complete failures) I would not trust him with buying players tbh.

I agree completely. But Levy loves him and would want to see if he can work another miracle, so I think Poch would be the first phone call if we were looking for a new manager.

When Conte goes I’d rather we look for another manager who plays 3atb but ideally with a bit more of a focus on pressing/possession, just for aesthetic reasons if nothing else.
 
I’m in agreement - no to Poch returning.

I won’t say ever but certainly not in the foreseeable future. We’ve got a world class manager right now and the club needs to ensure he gets complete focus and backing, I don’t really want to think about another potential manager for the time being, more than happy with Conte, just hope he’s happy here.

The only Premier League teams they've beaten this year are Everton and Watford.
Nice easy one up next. Early kickoff against the other Scouse.
We've got to play them twice, somehow.

If we’d have hired him in the summer I’d have been very happy with that piece of business. Some of their results this season have made me think that perhaps the gap to the top for him is still a little wider than I previously thought though, although it has to be said that I believe Brighton have had injury issues and as always he’s hampered by a lack of resources. Resources and a big club badge don’t fix all your problems though, as Poch is finding at PSG.

I think Potter’s reaching/ reached that stage where there’s not much more he can do for Brighton without significant investment, he’s hit the end game so to speak just like how Poch did with us. Managed to develop some really good players, already lost White for £50m, whilst I’d imagine both Lamptey and Bissouma will be on a lot of team’s wish lists in the summer for similar fees. Plays a great brand of football but it can only go so far when the players he has as a collective just aren’t adequate enough. I think he deserves a shot at a top six side sooner or later, pre-Conte I would’ve gladly taken him. Howe’s doing really good with Toon but they could be a destination for him too should it eventually not work out Howe there.

Howe-ay I hope it works out for Eddie. Bit boring isn’t he but I always felt a bit sorry for him that he never got a move when his stock was at its highest. Be good to see him rebuild his reputation a bit with the rebuild at Newcastle. Doing that well, including handling the bigger money players and big personalities on and off the pitch, will be invaluable experience for him.

You are not factoring in PL conditions.
That unforgiving combo of game pace + physicality that
takes a toll on players that other leagues IMHO do not.

Yeah he’s always been a decent manager to be fair to him, there was a point where I thought he could even be Poch’s heir but then things went a bit downhill for him. Sometimes managers, just like players, need that right move, obviously Toon’s new cash flow has allowed him to splash some cash and essentially use a “cheat code” but there’s been notable improvements from current players there too under him. Solid manager and I think he’ll rebuild his rep with them.

I think if a player looks after themselves and they obviously have the quality then they’re definitely capable of playing well into their 30s in the Prem regardless of how physical or pacey it is.

Zlatan came to the Prem at about 34 and done really well before his injury. Vardy’s still scoring goals. Milner’s no longer a regular starter but still a solid player for Pool at 36. Thiago Silva’s 37. Moutinho is still better than many CMs in the league. Lennon’s seemingly had a new lease of life this season at Burnley too.

I think both Modric and Benzema could easily hack it in the Prem. They shone against one of the best teams in Europe yesterday, I highly doubt they’d struggle against the Everton’s, Norwich’s and Leeds’ of the league at the least.
