Johnson was talking about hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian refugees coming in. That wouldn't break down society. Maybe some of them could drive trucks, or work in the NHS, or care homes, or maybe even pick fruit, Any of those jobs that we don't currently have enough people to do. It's not going to happen anyway, because we're deliberately making it as hard as possible for them to get here. How many so far, a few hundred? It's what people wanted.
As I’ve said before to you Strolls, and said to Bracknell…..would that not then be unfair on all the other refugees from Africa, Asia and the Middle East who are also fleeing war and persecution ? Mate I’m not trying to row with you, just stating facts….this country could not cope with immigration with no borders. Surely you can’t deny that ?
Your avoiding in giving any answer to what I’m saying. Come up with a valid solution I’ll take it on board.Until then, my point still stands
We should take our fair share of refugees from all conflicts. This one's relatively close to home, though. Pulling up the drawbridge isn't right, but then it's only 'taking back control' isn't it?
The simple fact is this country has let in too many over the past decade or so without a clear remit on how many should've come in. The housing crisis is in a diabolical state and housing refugees before homeless English people is opening up a can of worms. I help out at Shelter twice a month and the numbers are escalating all the time, it's heartbreaking. To let refugees in without proper vetting and opening yourself up to possible murderers , rapists , terrorists and god knows what doesn't bear thinking about. Yes these people need urgent help and the government needs to do more and more quickly but certain steps have to be taken for safety of everyone living in this country !
Do we have a definitive number on the amount of refugees that actually want to come here instead of a country nearer to Ukraine in the hope of returning there ?
[QUOTE="Staines R's, post: Mate I’m not trying to row with you, just stating facts….this country could not cope with immigration with no borders. Ive never had a poblem with immigration or taking in refugees, we are all probably products of immigration somewhere down the line. However, a total free for all just isnt sustainable. We have a totally inadequate infrastructure. We have incompetence at the highest level. We cant even deal with the ever increasing poverty amongst our own, infact the govt had to be shamed into feeding hungry british children.
Aye its tricky pal. Unfortunately theres no test in place for predicting a possible murderer or rapist.

No but we've taken them from other countries where they've already been sentenced for these crimes. Lessons have to be learnt sometimes, even by our mutant politicians
Thankyou Bob……to me you’ve hit the nail firmly on the head and explained it better than I can.[/QUOTE] You explained youre point perfectly. Its just not sustainable. The difference between immigrants and refugees is huge on any country. Just give them a heads up on the energy prices and they will soon decide to stay in France!!!
Doesnt suprise me in the slightest. Look at our immigration policy whilst a member of the EU. We could have kicked anyone out who took the piss but we decided never to bother. Easier just to not let them in. Like i say, its incompetence at the highest level from all past and present ruling governmemts
Proximity is obviously a factor. Poland have taken in over a million and we've taken a few hundred, whilst promising to take 'hundreds of thousands'. As I've said though, it's what people voted for in 2016 and 2019, so the government's only doing what the public wanted by making it as difficult as possible for people to get here.
I’ve answered the question twice and it’s a stupid question. There isn’t a limitless number of people trying to come here. We have a chronic labour shortage and rapidly ageing population, exacerbated by a hostile attitude towards the poor ****s who do the **** jobs we won’t do.
