Very few Charlton fans expect anything other than a comfortable away win. I just hope Jacko picks a team which won't throw in the towel when they go behind. Gilbey's captaincy has been dreadful, I'd like to see Pearce back, for all his rugby tendencies. I'd also like to see 4-4-2, but that won't happen.
As you say @The Penguin our hopes for this game won't be realised. We'll do the same thing (probably with the same players) in apparent expectation of a different result. It is highly unlikely but not impossible that Sunderland will have a really off day. I'd bite your arm off for a 0-0 point right now.
Sunderland have been way off form of late, but I'm not sure if they are in the dort of taidpin we sre in yet, and I believe they beat Wigsn away ladt time out. I saw we had some good news re injuries this week, but I was so weary of Charlton I couldn't be arsed to read the article. Is Fraser back?
Have to wait till 2 o'clock to see if he starts, but I'm confident Stockley will start, and that will make a difference, shame Washington's still ahrt.
MacG Gunter Lavelle, Pearce, DJ, Dobbo Fraser, Lee, Purrington, Stockley, Burstow. Looks potentially much better
The BBC stats for 29 minutes are very worrying. O shots, 0 corners, 31% possession. We're at home Nailed on we'll win.
I enjoyed seeing some good (ish) performances from Lee, MacIllivrey and Gunther. We could well have nicked it at the death, but that would have been a travesty (not unlike Shrews away amongst others) Stopped the rot, got a point, and the injured ones begin to come back. The downside was how slow and unimaginative we look on the ball. Can' t have everything I guess.
Blunderland must have averaged around 20 draws each season the past four seasons. They cannot be happy with results like today. Fair play averaging 30k + each season.
The way we play 3-5-2 has the 2 "wing-backs" playing mainly as defenders, and Dobbo in a purely defensive midfield role. So it's like a back 6. No wonder we regularly get outpassed in midfield.
I'm trying to stay loyal to Jacko, but he seems wedded to a formation that every club we meet knows how to unlock. Saturday was a good result for us, but let's be honest - we were generally outplayed. No lack of effort, but a huge lack of class and composure. Frankly, JJ looks a broken man, which is horrible to see - he's only been gaffer for six months. We need a change on the pitch.
