Burnley behind, Brentford down to 10 men already. Have to feel that Leeds, Brentford and Everton are the target. I don't think we're staying up without getting ahead of at least one of them. Win our next two league games and we have a chance, lose to either of those teams and I think the season is unsalvageable.
Not necessarily. The way Brentford and Leeds are collapsing, IF we can beat both of them, as little as 31 or 32 points might be enough, which would 'only' require 8 or 9 from us from our other matches. IF. Although the way we played last night, we don't deserve to stay up.
I think the commentary team said we would need about 25 points from the remaining 36 to survive . Sadly I think we are pretty much done.
Agreed, but the problem with three losses in a row is it stalls you big time. The seasons we stayed up, we picked up points here and there against the big boys. You need to get a few points there, as well as plenty against the relegation candidates. 18 points from 12 games is close to top ten form, of course it’s doable, but it needs confidence. We can’t score, we are supposedly improved defensively but still conceding regularly, we can’t retain possession so every game irrespective of the opposition is relentless pressure.
Just trying to be positive after last night's gloom. But if I'm honest, I think we've gone backwards since last season, with the exception of the defence, which is looking a bit stronger in my opinion. But our midfield has been woeful without Buendia and Skipp.
Man City finally pull out the win 0-1 against Everton. That leaves us 5 pts + GD (so 6 pts) behind 17th place Everton. It's possible if we could show any creativity when we get the ball.
Another very controversial VAR decision, apparently, in the Everton-Man City game. VAR really is a total blight on the game.
I think that sometimes, but last year was the Championship. The PL is a totally different ball game. On WhoScored, Buendia has a 6.83 rating and Skipp 6.57 with more successful teams than ours.
I just think that we were Championship bound from quite early on. Farke seemed to have an Indian Sign on that league. As I've said before no criticism of Smith intended by that observation. It's possible that low thirties might be enough. Fifteen points from eleven? Personally I don't see it. Possible we nay see all three promoted teams relegated.
So we will need 42 points to survive? What idiot said that? 42 points this season will likely mean finishing about 13th. Leeds have now sacked Bielsa, so have to wait and see how that affects them.
I think it was Gary Neville. Last season Burnley finished 17th on 39 points , factor in our horrible goal difference and that's not too far from 42 points to be safe .
Leeds are really not following the script. Bielsa should have been sacked AFTER we beat them, not before.
Posh putting up a good performance so far. No goals after 28 mins. City win 2-0.Good show by Posh Burnley lose 2-0
Posh did very well against a strong City side. We have Maddison and Vardy to thank for Burnley's defeat. Only one game in hand now for Burnley and they play Chelsea on Saturday. Leeds are at Leicester and Watford play Arsenal. Brentford is a must win for us.
Thomas Tuchel criticised Chelsea supporters who sang owner Roman Abramovich's name during a minute's applause for Ukraine before their 4-0 win over Burnley at Turf Moor. Abramovich announced his decision to sell the club amid heavy scrutiny following Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Some Chelsea fans chanted Russian Abramovich's name throughout the game, and were booed by Burnley fans. "It's not the moment to do this," Chelsea manager Tuchel said. "If we show solidarity we show solidarity and we should do it together. ****ing Morons Well said Thomas
I went on to Hesgoal to see if the Watford--Arsenal game was being streamed. There's a notice explaining that they won't be showing any more EPL matches. And the reason they give? They respect the rights of the copyright holders ................................
