One of the worst and most obviously bent decisions I’ve ever seen in the game. Makes a mockery of the sport. I feared the worst, when it was taking an age to add up 3 cards. Taylor needs to watch it back if he thinks it was even close ffs.
Surely there’s a better way of doing this. Something more like the Olympic system I don’t know. Seems to keep happening and it’s seriously damaging a great sport.
Well, if they were doing last nights fight on punches thrown / landed, then one boxer had double the score of the other. Shame he didn’t win.
I spent years watching boxing and got to know quite a few of the hierarchy in Frank Warrens stable. Mainly the matchmakers. I was lucky to have access to the changing rooms for a couple of fighters I got to know. The one thing that most fans underestimate is the politics behind it. Its a business. If you don't sell tickets, you don't win fights. It was pretty standard last night and the reason I stepped away from the 'sport' 15 years ago. I was not shocked at all by the scores. There are tens of millions to be made from Josh Taylor over the next couple of years until they feed him to the next bill paying up and comer. The outcry last night will enhance the profit to be made from a rematch so expect that to happen in the summer in a big arena, on ppv. Boxing is a disgustingly corrupt sport. Results like this will continue for ever. Its disheartening to see but I've been close enough to the business to know how bad it is.
Anyway, for those interested Galal Yafai (the most talented of the 3 brothers) is making his pro debut at the moment in a 10 rounder. At 29 he will have to get a move on. Okolie defends his title later.
How much did you pay? I logged on but cheapest was 400 odd quid by time I got through and **** paying that.
£288 for two tickets plus a bus ride from 'zone 1' wherever that is I was on the page but didn't notice there was a link to a que. I noticed and was 9800 or so in line. By the time I got the chance only tickets plus coach pick up were available so I thought sod it - not been to a fight before just buy them! Hadn't even told my mate - just did it off the cuff. You been to many?
He's not everyone's cup of tea. Years ago I didn't like him then changed my mind. Love his wit. However past 6 months he's talked way too much and is extremely inconsistant. Think he's bipolar. Great ability though for a big guy.
Quite like Eubank. Seems a humble guy. Not that he’s got anything to be not humble about. The microwave thing was funny
Eubank is too big for Brook. A complete mismatch. Eubank is a big middleweight who has fought at super middleweight. Brook is a big welterweight who has struggled with opponents power every time he has tried to move up. If its made its purely a pension for Brook and a gimme for Eubank. As for Fury, his great strength is his footwork. Should be used as an example for any young boxer making his way in the game.
