Thanks for that. You're right. I needed to see that again. He is a A1 arsehole, but was an absolute football genius.

I forgot about that one at Anfield where he made Mark Wright look like an amateur by turning him over about 3 times :)

This team please Ralph, i've got money riding on it!....

Judging by the FB montage for today (usually all pictured are nailed on starters): Livramento is confirmed…. As are Stephens, Valery and Long….

I was thinking originally

———————-Caballero———————-
-KWP or Liv—Salisu—Stephens—Perraud-
——————-JWP——Diallo——————-
-S Armstrong————————Redmond—
—————Broja——A Armstrong————

I am now concerned that we are looking at either

———————-Caballero————————
————-Valery—Salisu—Stephens———-
-Livramento—JWP—-Diallo——-Perraud—-
——-Long——A Armstrong—Redmond——

or

———————Caballero————————
-Livramento—Valery—Stephens—Perraud—
——————JWP——Diallo———————
—S Armstrong———————Redmond——
——————Long——A Armstrong————-

Don't follow twitter and as far as I know he's not broken the law. He's the best player we've ever had and is a football god to me.
Those goals, jeez, he was a genius.

The media fawn and rave about Cantona because, let's face it, he played for Man Utd. Good player but Le Tissier was a cut above and he never assaulted a fan during a game.

I use Twitter- don’t agree with a lot of what he says but he’s entitled to his opinion. But on a footballing front I believe he has no equal. If only Hoddle and Venables had had the guts to base the England team on MLT would have had a world beating team.

Venables has been elevated to this ridiculous platform where he's almost untouchable in the eyes of the (non-Saints) public, because we did okay in Euro 96. He kept picking Darren Anderton over Tiss though, which was utterly, utterly absurd, and he certainly had his favourites that were untouchable. If he'd had the balls, not even to base the team around Tiss, but at the very least to have him on the bench to replace his other favourite, Sheringham, then history could have been very different.

Back then when I was a young(er) idiot (as opposed to being an old idiot now) I phoned one of the chat radio stations, when Venables was a guest. I asked him, straight out, "why do you hate Le Tissier". He gave me some waffle about how he didn't hate him, he really liked him, thought he was very talented, but couldn't see a role for him in his England set-up.

If a manager can't see a role for that level of talent in his set-up, frankly he shouldn't be a manager.

Anderton and Sheringham came surprisingly high on the list of most ever goal combinations that was wheeled out recently when Kane and Son broke the record. Perhaps that is why he kept picking them ?

Not saying they were bad players, absolutely not. Particularly Sheringham. I can understand (sort of) why you would pick Sheringham ahead of Le Tiss. In a kind of why you might, for some reason, pick Phillips ahead of JWP.

I don't understand the Anderton part at all - he was constantly injured, and pretty ineffectual on the international stage.

I don’t know what the prize money is by position in the league, but if I have found the right figures the winner of the FA Cup accrues just over £3.4 million in winning payments, assuming the winning club starts in the 3rd Round Proper, which they will have. I would think £3.4m would go some way towards covering the drop of 1 or 2 league places.
Figures by round are
3rd £82k
4th £90k
5th £180k
QF £360k
SF £900k
F £1.8m
They merge Place money and TV which makes it difficult to be exact but I think the gaps are near £2m so Cup doesn’t really compete

Red line to me on starters is we need a backbone of players who recognise each other and a system we’ve played before ... other than Coventry 1st half

We may have Bro and Stu on bench as they get injuries, Oriel because he’s not getting younger and Diallo has been good at times
We need Sali, JWP and Che or Bro starting to be competitive

I wonder who they’ll rest?
Rice would be good!
But he’s their JWP so no chance

I had a rant about this after the Coventry game.

IMO you should keep at least 1 player from each ‘partnership’ or general area on the pitch from the previous game to provide some consistency.

1 CB
1 Full back
1 CM
1 Attacking midfielder
1 Striker if you operate with two

We saw against Coventry what happens when you chuck out an almost entirely new team, even though we won, just about.

Given that in my team of my life time Keegan, Davies and Channon are nailed on, with Shearer as a sub that means Le Tiss needs to play in midfield.. plus 2 or 3 to do his running.. just saying..

Someone told me that Le Tissier was dropped for leaking the England team to the opposition in a friendly, that may have been 1998 actually

Thanks for that. You're right. I needed to see that again.

With the pixilation, the 90's era SEGA/Streetfigther hoardings and frankly insane outlandish skills - you can imagine somebody with a joystick seizing control of the player.

The defeated Tim Flowers is blown away by a special move-combo and sent crashing into the goal-post. DDA-AAHHHH!

YOU WIN!
PERFECT!!!

There’s lots of things that go into how prize money is distributed in the PL (such as how many times you are on tv) but it looks like it’s about £5m per place roughly based on last seasons figures, so significantly more than winning the Cup
