I genuinely feel sorry for individual Russian sports players. They didn't choose this war. However, the country must be isolated and the population must be shown the cost of Putin's actions. The sportsmen and women may not be responsible for the war, but it is our responsibility to make sure their job now is to speak out against Putin rather than playing sports. They cannot be allowed to compete on the international stage in any shape or form. The Russian people need to see how much Putin is isolating them and that he needs to go.

Their are lots of casualties when a war like this hits. Ultimately, the casualty of a sports career pales into insignificance compared to the casualties of innocent people losing their lives, families and homes.

I agree with you. Lock all of them out of every sport until Ukraine is free and democratic again. It’s only a small thing, but it swings some more public opinion against the murderer.

 

Poland just came out and said it is refusing to play Russia in the WC qualifiers.

 

Apparently Poland are talking to Czech and Sweden about a more joint approach.

The English FA have joined Sweden, Czech Republic and Poland in saying they will not play Russia for the foreseeable future. It's a little more vague than the others, but does say we wouldn't play them.

 

If enough countries do the same FIFA and UEFA are irrelevant. They can’t ban everyone. Another thought, what would count as a neutral country? (Apart from Sweden)

 

It's hard to imagine many countries being willing to host the games within Europe - and I think they still have to be played in Europe as the qualifiers are UEFA sanctioned.

 

Tue whole of the EU will act together here. If Poland are punished all Euro teams will do I’ll out. FIFA and UEFA are ****ed.
