Armley, Belle Isle, Beeston, Middleton, Bramley then out to the east the delights of Harehills, Seacroft, Gipton and Halton

When I went to work in Leeds first lass I chatted up lived in Beeston. Getting back from there to Chapel Allerton with no money for a taxi was an experience. <laugh> Middleton was god awful. Had a flat for a while in Harehills and you could see the area deteriorating by the week, though it was apparently a decent place until the 1950s.

It's a shame Hull didn't get the many, many millions in central Government funding and other support that Leeds got, despite having more need of funding to rebuild the City after the war, and not getting the same level of support when external factors decimated key local industries.

Despite that, I'd much sooner live in Hull than Leeds, especially the outer parts of Leeds that have gone even further down hill having been neglected in favour of the centre.

Fur coat no knickers springs to mind.
Absolute ****hole no other word for the place, ****hole, housing ****housery people!!!!

You're confirming Leeds got far more funding and support than Hull, which is precisely what I said. That being the case, it's ridiculous to try to claim one is superior.

Given the difference in funding, Leeds should be far better than it is. It has grossly underachieved, and Hull has made far better use of the meager resources. A big part of that is the stoic attitude of Hull residents, who tend to deal with situations head on, and work out how to make best, whereas you wessies tend to whine and look for hand outs.

Compare and contrast the demise of the mining industries with those of fishing.

I think a big part of the issue relates to the attitudes of the people, and how they define what is good and bad about a place. People raised in Hull tend to have a far more pragmatic view of life, and relate to people. Wessies (including those raised there) tend to be far more superficial and pretentious.

You have to live here, and by that I mean the City itself, to get the full experience.
Bang on !!!!!

Maybe your company's tender for the job was O.T.T? but it doesn't excuse a British Hospital giving work to a German Company...It just about sums up everything that's wrong with our Country!!
Actually it was all sewn up - forgive the pun , the prof was German , but what is true is that only one British Uni has spent with us in 8 years yet we’ve sold 100+ systems to almost every other country inc Germany / but the Brits constant buy German in our field - yet we fund so many graduates from British Uni’s . There’s no drive in this country to keep money in the country and keep ours employed - ask the bankers - rant over

Bruce and Junior weaving their magic at West Brom - 1 point out of 12 now - this seasons record inc Newcastle, 4 points out of 36 - really don't know why he bothers, I can only assume he's mollycoddling Junior trying to get him into management - there's not many people who can say, I played in the Premier League, because of my dad, I played in a cup final, because of my dad, I played in Europe, because of my dad and now, I'm a coach at West Brom, because of my dad - at least he can say, I kept the bench warm at Wigan and Kilmarnock all by myself

I said it before but my theory as to why Bruce took the WBA job was so that Junior had a springboard for his coaching career, under daddy’s supervision. It’s not like he needs the money or stress.

The people who wanted him back here after McCann left are utterly deluded.

At least he’ll have his spineless Man Utd mates on Sky, TalkSport and BT defending him. No doubt it will be the West Brom fans’ fault and they should cut him some slack because he’s ‘a nice bloke with a family’ <doh>

Harsh, but true.

Signed by Daddy at Birmingham - "the team were relegated to the Championship, and it was felt that accusations of nepotism were hindering his progress, so it was decided that, in the best interests of club, manager and player, Bruce should pursue his career away from his father's management"

After 85 appearances in five years and then leaving city in 2017 he made a further six appearances in two years before heading to Kilmarnock.

Let's not forget though that Shota was trying to sign Vato, his nephew, but he wouldn't get a work permit so that was shelved.

Nepotism happens in football all the time. Grant signed all ex players in his first transfer window.

If work permit was known to be an issue, it was never in the pipeline
