I fully agree with this, he has made mistakes, with team selections at times and with substitutions at times but he has been failed by some players serially making mistakes that have cost us at least 15 points and several players who seemingly don't give a ****.

Unfortunately daft as a brush just about sums up our entire organization because I have difficulty understanding how such a supposedly astute businessman as Steve Lansdown could allow such a shocking situation to not just grow but thrive down at Ashton Gate. Some may say that he took his eye off the ball but frankly I don't think he has a clue what a ball looks like yet alone know what to do with said item. We are a small fish in a big pond and we are about to sink below the waves of sustainability unless we get lucky and as we all know so well that is not in our playbook.

For me the advent of questionable foreign money invading your shores has destroyed the game forever when it comes down to the true grass roots of what made the sport so great and unless someone is prepared to bite the bullet and share the wealth then I believe that many clubs are destined for the scrap heap. I don't know about the others on this site but I tired of hearing about players who will leave their current clubs unless the salary is increased to at least half a million pounds a week as it is an insult to the lower clubs because we have allowed more than double standards to pervade the game.

Bristol City, despite Lansdown's money, will struggle to keep up with the spiraling wages and as it looks like we have been paying way over the odds for underperforming players it would seem that we have and probably never will get the message. I gather there is some suggestions of a wage cap, and realistically that needs to be done, but I fear that the chances of signing better players to get us where we supposedly want to go will lessen. The FFP laws don't appear to give any leeway for clubs not getting parachute payments and unless parity on that front is addressed because I can't understand how they are rewarded for failing to stay in the Premiership.

Don't really care what JL says.....IMO we have been underperforming....Proof is, with not being able to see games out which would have gained many points.....that's coaching/tactics, getting information over to players in my book......daft as a brush or just plain common sense?

Look at the squad we have, many just aren’t good enough, with what he’s got we are where we should be. We aren’t good enough yet to be anywhere else. I don’t know about you, but for me avoiding relegation this season is job done, of course the higher we can get the better.

Your comment just about sums us up in a nutshell Ashton and I agree that staying afloat in the Championship will be job done for this season. My biggest concern is us falling in the FFP hole and right now I'm not totally aware of our position on that front and it will be interesting should we get a points deduction on this season whether we would get preferential treatment like Derby? Even the thought of going back to League One makes me ask how on earth Steve Lansdown allowed this possible scenario to appear on the radar and I hate to tell him that hiring nodding dogs is rarely good for business, unless you are a control freak.

Not seeing games has been mainly down individual schoolboy errors and that is one thing that no manager in history can legislate for.

spot on players have to take responsibility and NP will not carry them.
The way he is talking it looks like he is here for the team rebuild and wants the challenge off taking city up a level.
I assume he has assurances from the Lansdown family otherwise I’m sure he would be off.

Jon Lansdown has to say under performing, he's largely presided over the last 5years and dare not admit his/the board's failure.
But failure it is, the squad is proof.

As for those who agree with JL, they have their own transparent agenda.

Sitting on leads, allowing opposition control comes from the dugout in main. eventually the defence will crack...most goals conceded can be seen or judged as individual schoolboy errors. A lot of this is poor coaching as well as poor judgement by the players..

I don't have any agenda. I believe NP should and could have done better with performances and results with what we have. Players have made mistakes and although he has given the young ones opportunities, (some forced by injuries) some of his tactics, setups and team selections have also cost us points..leading to under performing

Beside injury by far the reason for our under performing is the quality of player Pearson has to select every match.

Doesn't surprise anyone why Jon Lansdown is making noise and mischief now.

The man is only fooling himself and the more gullible of our fan base.

Redprintt spot on players play on the pitch and are responsible for their actions.

Without doubt the football is miles better to watch and some exciting talent has come through, Nige has improved that big time but unfortunately with continuous injuries to key players over the season that has not helped and the replacements are working overtime as the squad is small.
Looks like the rebuild starts for next season and Nige is big enough and strong enough to see this project through.

This football club has never had a manager of this standard in all my time watching city. He needs to change the mould and structure of this football club.

I cannot believe for the life of me that the instruction from the dugout is to sit on leads, it absolutely no different to what happened under the previous 2 managers, in fact LJ was even asked at one point whether it was a tactic and he said categorically no.

Coaches can only coach players who want to listen and carry out the coaching sadly we have players that know far better, because their egos and pay cheques fat exceed their talent and that was the case when they were signed.

And I fully agree with @Supcon72 I believe that Kalas is not wholly innocent in our defensive frailties.

The proof of the pudding will be in where those players end up and if they actually perform consistently wherever they end up, because apart from one notable exception the last who shipped haven't faired that well, because they were not that good in the first place.

You keep saying with what we have, as if what we have has ever been consistent since signing and the truth is they haven't, what we have has not been good enough for nearly 3 seasons, why would you expect them to be good enough now?

The 'with what we have' includes Wells, ODowda, Palmer, DaSilva and Vyner, 3 of them should be match winners but never have been on a consistent basis, the nonsense we went through to keep ODowda especially, shows perfectly how dysfunctionally the club was run, I can only assume that because he was brought in from Ashton's former club Oxford and probably at Ashton's recommendation, it was him that insisted that we pay him a higher wage on a new contract to keep him, that is how our club was run a passive manager, the son of the owner and a egotist in a suit, what could possibly go wrong, what was the phrase oh yes bonkers.

With what we have includes ODowda, only recently been featured and mainly done ok. Palmer never features. DaSilva, recently featured and IMO has on the whole played well. Wells hardly features at all. Vyner is the only one that's featured consistently and not been great.
But we also have decent players such as Semenyo, Weimann, Massengo, Scott, Pring, Kalas, (James, Williams when not injured) Martin and 2 decent keepers....We should and could be doing better....
You have this thing that if their good why aren't other clubs coming in for them.....how do we know that we aren't approached? You make it a big deal............ I don't think it is!!
Nb. I disagree with your niggles regarding Kalas, all players make mistakes, he’s been pretty solid and brilliant player for us. Again, my opinion

I can, on so many occasions can't be coincidence...Some of his subs has also indicated to me of his intent.....But unless we ask him direct..it's how I've seen it..and it's my opinion
 
If sitting on leads is a team strategy then it surprises me that nobody has noticed that we stink out the joint when we go all defence. Time to ring the changes as many have already commented.

I do think that the tactics have changed a tad, since we managed our first win at the gate this season it’s has been marginally better..
