As with all things in life, there’s a balance. It’s fine to have a discussion about football hooliganism and a rise in violence at games but the amount of airtime Burns has given it suggests he wants to facilitate some sort of outrage to the detriment of any positive news. Acun’s £2-a-ticket for youngsters and seniors is a positive move in the right direction for getting fans in the ground but Burns would rather give airtime to mouth-breathers peddling age-old stereotypes of football fans being brainless thugs. Priorities are arse-backward on RH at the moment.

If it is topical news at all is debatable. I'd say it is also topical that Tuesday nights attendance could show that the new owners have doubled our crowd in less then a month. DB has been plugging todays show on 'the increase in hooliganism at football' all week. He could have covered it at any time. He knows full well the efforts the new owners are doing to win the crowds back, The new owners who let him back into the ground, and he knows any hint of football hooliganism puts people off. Just listen to some of the callers. It's just my opinion but I don't think he did himself or City any favours this morning.

First of all, the discussion is based on reports of 50% increase in football arrests. That's topical.

Secondly, whether it has any affect at all on ticket sales is pure specilulation on your part, unlike the statistics released nationally which have precipitated the discussion.

I know you dislike Burnsy but can't help thinking its scraping the bottom of the barrel using this to criticise him, Or indeed any other journalist discussing the issues of the day.

Media do what they always do exaggerate it’s there job to get views or listens.
I went 6 months a few years back without reading or watching the news it was amazing I went about my day without fear and made new friends.
If the HDM or RH annoy people they shouldn’t read or listen to it that why I don’t read the Daily Mail.

The stadium manager of the MKM is going to be on this afternoon talking about this. Should he not address concerns about behaviour at the stadium because of the offer on Tuesday?

Maybe I'm wrong about his personal personal feelings towards Burnsy, but when I can't find validity in an argument against a journo doing his job then it suggests to me a wider agenda.

As I posted earlier I just don't think he did himself or City any favours this morning banging on about football violence when he could quite as easy reported on the increase in City's attendances, especially with the efforts to fill the ground next Tuesday in full flow.
That is as topical locally as some faceless university graduate publishing a report that could be read either way.

I'd guess Paul Woodford has been invited on this afternoon to re address some of the damage DB did earlier. The right of reply even ?
Also it would be pointless mentioning the £2 ticket offer on Tuesday because it will be to late to take advantage of it by then. The time to be pushing it is now.

The stadium manager of the MKM should absolutely be allowed to address concerns about behaviour at the Stadium,especially if he addresses the over zealous stewarding by some(not all) of them.

I saw a video last week of a fist fight in the seats in a London theatre, drink related probably, the comments that followed is that it’s a common occurrence in theatres all over London, now it’s expensive to watch a play, so you would assume that these aren’t youths from the local council estates, but rather well off tossers.
My point being, there are no banning orders in place for theatres, concerts etc, but the level of violence is connected with alcohol is prevalent at any mass gathering in the UK, we just love to scrap don’t we?

A few years ago we went to War Horse in the West End (which was excellent by the way) and here was a couple near us pissed before it started (I'd had a drink and they still seemed pissed) who spoke through chucks (out of my hearing thankfully, but you could see others turning round) who then staggered out just before half time...and never came back! Tickets weren't £2

According to an article being discussed this morning (joint investigation by The Times and Talksport), there's been a 50% increase in arrests, primarily due to a massive increase in drug offences at football matches.

I was invited to be on the show this morning, got up specially as they wanted me on at just after 7am, Geoff Beilby was interviewed, I wasn't.

The massive increase in drug use that is being reported is in supporters who have seen cocaine being used at football matches.

1400 people were surveyed and over 30% said that they had witnessed cocaine use at a football. That seems a little odd to me.

The Police commissioner for football (or whatever he is) Mark Roberts has said arrests are up compared to pre covid. Phil Buckingham has written an article saying the cocaine fuel drunken behaviour is up.

Is this a trend that is reflected on the terraces at Hull City games? I do not believe it is.

What can be read the other way about football arrests rising 50%?
