It's only rumours in the media and social media that keep that kept saying it was done. Nobody from the club has said it was done

Be that as it may. Not meaning or wanting to sound funny, but this isn't the first time I've/we've been taken in but it will be the last.

A quote from over the road

If Neil focuses on diffusion, control and a lower block, it may at least sort out our biggest weakness

I haven't got a ****ing clue what it means and if it good or bad

Can someone enlighten me please?

Superbowl weekend isn't it?

Everyone's toys back in the pram now? Some of the responses on this thread have been ****ing embarrassing. Welcome Alex Neil, now let's get this wagon back on the road. Roy who?
Good post mate.... Yes we need to get behind this guy, his job will be hard enough without disgruntled fans who won't give him a chance. Good luck Alex...you have my 100% backing... Ha'way the lads.

Why is Methven attending the games and manager interviews? We were told he had nothing to do with running the club
He is the mastermind behind our excellent media control and fan engagement department. Look how he has us all talking about the club again, it's brilliant!

Yeah, they said they were taking their time to make the right appointment. If it's right then why not commit? We are seeing in Man utd (not comparing us to them) how hard it is to get players to play for you when they aren't sure if you will be there next season.

I think, and hope that it is the 18 month (or till end of next season) that is being talked about. Purely to send the right message to squad that has ultimately contributed massively to this mess.

I really, really wanted it to be Keane but that was probably a hint of nostalgia and rose tinted glasses. I remember being annoyed when he walked away last time and shocked when it came out that he sometimes only spent 1 day with the team.

For that reason I think it's a reasonable ask to relocate, otherwise you risk the same problems resurfacing. After all if dumb and dickhead are still around they are pally with short who will have filled them in about the bust up from his perspective.

I need this to work, I love this club and will support them forever but the city needs to not be the joke of the North East so people can walk about with a smile on their faces and optimism about the future.

A lot of that is driven by SAFC.

Ha'way the lads, we go again

Maybe they took there time, were not full convinced by any so didnt dive in offering a lomg term deal

Appreciate your point about sending out the right message, maybe thats now spun to point out to AN....if your the right man, go show us you are, we are behind you 100% during this

KTF we need to look at both sides of how things can appear, hopefully, although i have no clue, the reality is the positive side.

win on sat, win against MK & were off running again

well, been keeping a low profile since the last game as i honestly had nowt good to say so thought it best to keep quiet.

on keane, nostalgia playing a massive part i feel (for me as well) but i figured we have the players they just needed someone to push them a bit harder and together and keane seemed to fit the bill out of those mentioned although i saw many posts wondering if he has changed, if he will walk away in a huff again or even if his time out has mellowed him, in the end none of that matters as he does not appear to have been offered the deal he wanted...the club are right not to commit to a longer contract and wanting him to locate up here and for sticking to their current policies, keane was quite right to try to get a deal that would make leaving his current line of work attractive so i am not throwing blame at anyone as we most likely will never hear the full truth, good luck to him in looking for a return to management is all i can add.

on the current owners, with all due respect i firmly believe they also got a tad caught up in the nostalgia side of things (along with defoe, going for a fan pleaser) although i do think a faster appointment would have been a major boost and possibly given us a couple more points on the board, again we will never know so pointless crying over it.

on alex neil i admit i know little about him and as yet have not done any searches as others have done that job...seems he likes to play good attacking football so he has the players at hand to do just that, if he can galvanise the defense quickly he is half way there but he appears to be quite straight talking (hopefully a change from all the 'twaddle-speak' we hear these days) and i am sure he will get the support of the owners if/when needed.

i honestly hope he has already been in to see the lads and probably had a 'kick about' or light training session and will be announced tomorrow morning (friday) and spends this evening going over some recent games, would also be nice if we announced one or two new faces to go in the back four when needed even if it is just to give the young lads a much needed break...we may even see alby get his first start.

ok, that is basically my two pence worth and i will, as ever, give the new manager/coach my full backing, welcome him to the club and allow him time to get his ideas across but hoping he can hit the ground running (big ask right now) also hope he is with us for a few years as that will mean he gets it right.
Great post

The aim now looks like securing a play off position, I have to admit I did say enough was enough with LJ but he would have had us in the play offs. Seems we have had a lot of upheaval & soured relations for some fans & the club for nothing. Whoever comes in will be up against it because of the clamour for Keane by a large percentage of fans. KLD is going to make mistakes along the way and this looks like the 1st big one but I still feel happy with him at the helm, he will have learnt from this and I bet the next time he sacks / replaced the manager it’s dealt with far better. I will get behind the new manager and team and pray we still go up, if we do all this will have been seen as a master stroke by KLD.

Tbf, I don't think the actual appointment of Alex Neil is where the furore is directed at. I think it's a really sound appointment. It's the whole farce around it and the way it's come about that's got people enraged. Like if he'd been appointed as soon as Johnson got sacked we'd probably be sitting on 6 points and we'd be right in the mix. It's the whole sharade and dangling of the carrot of bringing Roy Keane in and failing, the fact that Speakman and the "ownership group" don't seem to know what they're doing or they're all not pulling in the right direction, throwing Dodds under the bus, talking about processes, leaving us woefully short in defensive areas, still not having an u23s coach in place after two months, being arrogant enough to think we'd just automatically pick up 6 points no matter whos in charge of the team because it's only Doncaster and Cheltenham, the fact you've got a ****er like Methven still lingering in the background like a wet fart.
I went to bed Thursday morning after a nightshift, after every man and his dog were saying Keane would be appointed that day, done deal and all that, woke up late morning fully expecting it to have fallen through. Lo and behold that's exactly what's happened.
Like I say I'm fully behind Neil and think it's a good appointment, I just feel sorry for him having to work under these people.

He's fortunate that he starts with a 'winnable game' in front of a noisy packed support away from home ...

... win that and the next home game will see him get a good SOL welcome imo.
