well, been keeping a low profile since the last game as i honestly had nowt good to say so thought it best to keep quiet.
on keane, nostalgia playing a massive part i feel (for me as well) but i figured we have the players they just needed someone to push them a bit harder and together and keane seemed to fit the bill out of those mentioned although i saw many posts wondering if he has changed, if he will walk away in a huff again or even if his time out has mellowed him, in the end none of that matters as he does not appear to have been offered the deal he wanted...the club are right not to commit to a longer contract and wanting him to locate up here and for sticking to their current policies, keane was quite right to try to get a deal that would make leaving his current line of work attractive so i am not throwing blame at anyone as we most likely will never hear the full truth, good luck to him in looking for a return to management is all i can add.
on the current owners, with all due respect i firmly believe they also got a tad caught up in the nostalgia side of things (along with defoe, going for a fan pleaser) although i do think a faster appointment would have been a major boost and possibly given us a couple more points on the board, again we will never know so pointless crying over it.
on alex neil i admit i know little about him and as yet have not done any searches as others have done that job...seems he likes to play good attacking football so he has the players at hand to do just that, if he can galvanise the defense quickly he is half way there but he appears to be quite straight talking (hopefully a change from all the 'twaddle-speak' we hear these days) and i am sure he will get the support of the owners if/when needed.
i honestly hope he has already been in to see the lads and probably had a 'kick about' or light training session and will be announced tomorrow morning (friday) and spends this evening going over some recent games, would also be nice if we announced one or two new faces to go in the back four when needed even if it is just to give the young lads a much needed break...we may even see alby get his first start.
ok, that is basically my two pence worth and i will, as ever, give the new manager/coach my full backing, welcome him to the club and allow him time to get his ideas across but hoping he can hit the ground running (big ask right now) also hope he is with us for a few years as that will mean he gets it right.
