Thought I'd bung a thread on here just in case anyone wants to comment on our adventure to Anfield. In 1959 the great Bill Shankly took charge at Liverpool with his first game being a Second Division clash against promotion seeking Cardiff City at Anfield. Unfortunately for Bill, the Bluebirds ran out as 4-0 winners. I've no doubt we can expect the same on Sunday I haven't made up my mind on how I would like to see SM approach this one but I'm sure there'll be some strong opinions here. Fill year boots
Is it just me but I can’t get worked up about this game? Anyway a great day beckons for the travelling fans and great experience for the younger players. A respectable 3-1 loss wouldn’t be a bad result.
4 cup tied, Ipkeazu, Drahmed, Doughty (injured anyway) and Watters. If Morro not fit we are looking light at the back with Ng going to right back and Bagan, I guess, at left back leaving the seventies pop duo as centre backs. Usual suspects in midfield and Hugill, Harris, Collins and Davies to chose from upfront.
Can't fault the tie as an "occasion" for everyone at the club and involved from a travelling fan's perspective. Yes, we know that only one team will win the Cup and 3 teams will go down from the Championship. The priorities are clear, but hopefully we can enjoy the moment in the spotlight without the usual pressure of the "must win" scenario we're always talking about lately. Just as an aside, had a look at what's odds are on offer for a City win - we're @ 22/1 against to win this - anyone want to have a go?
I can actually remember that rumour at the time - just found this back in the archives.............. https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport...s/south-american-wonderkid-luis-diaz-16054672
Hmmm...that's not a very nice thing to say, but I've heard they can be a bit light fingered up there. In that case I'll follow your advice. I'll leave my wallet, phone and car at home and just take the wife......
I'm the same Nin. It's a distraction we don't really need. I've always disliked Liverpool anyhow so that doesn't help. Treat it as a fun day out for the kids. Hope we put on a half decent performance and not get spanked. I'd rather us have drawn Kidderminster in all honesty. Can't get excited by selfish clubs that think they are bigger than the sport itself that attract plastic fans and bang on about how they are the "best in the world" when we all know even supposed "theatres of football" like Anfield can be soulless, dead and flat like any other ground and prone to grumbling and discontent from the fans.
Been discussing the game with a scouse neighbour. Worked in liverpool for a couple years. Not as many liverpool (or everton) fans as you might imagine.
Agree little interest. Cant stand Liverpool FC. Id rather play a football club than a franchise with predominantly plastic fans.
Unfortunately Remote, being in Bristol I encounter loads... Only one of which I can think of is actually a Scouser.
Cant remember what it was like for the 10 years I was in Bristol. To be fair, its big on rugby which suited me. Most if the lads at the rugby club either followed Brizzle or Gas.
