I tend to agree having given yesterday’s dust time to settle - driving back was weird, not gutted, just baffled really - Johnson’s literally got everything he could influence wrong yesterday from formation, tactics, selection, substitutions and their timing. He deserves a 0 out of 10 for yesterday as much as the worst performing player for me. A bad day and I think the signs are there will be others as he doesn’t seem to do self reflection and learning from mistakes - see us conceding goals from our own corners 2 games running from the Lincoln home game as an example.

Spot on. He won't learn. Evidence has shown this. It's arrogant. Insistence of 4-2-3-1. Doesn't work for us. Yet he still does it.

No manager of this club should survive that result. Too many hammerings and too many games where we've looked lost in possession. Time to save our season and find someone who can get us up through the play offs

Dunno if this is factual or even relevant but it didn't look like Johnson travelled down on the coach yesterday. We stood and watched the players come off the coach so my young in could get some pics. Once they had all dispersed we walked round the stadium and saw Johnson walking up from one of the car parks. Naturally my lad stopped and got a pic with him. Thinking about it now that seemed really weird. Why would the manager not travel with his players?

Might be putting 2 and 2 together and making 5 but it's odd

I know we are still in the play off spots etc.etc. But quite simply this latest good hiding is NOT acceptable. Getting beat in the third division is bad enough, but conceding 4's, 5's and now 6 in games is beyond the pale. We are Sunderland AFC, not bloody Hartlepool or Darlington.

The fact is the club have chosen to go down the route of a Sporting Director. This should ensure a smoother transition with less disruption to the team when replacing managers . If Speakman does his job correctly then there shouldn’t be an issue swinging the axe. . This is what is meant by long term planning, it doesn’t mean keeping individuals who are failing.

He’s got to the end of the season for me!

Unless Big Sam is available!!

Bart
If we sack Johnson we have to replace him with a like minded coach - no point building our recruitment around pass and move etc if we bring in an Allardyce type who needs loads of big lads in the team and plays long ball.

That might be the thing that keeps Johnson in a job

If we go down same route with first team coach as players then LJ was brought in to develop and improve. Next game I think is the most critical for him. If we bounce back and he’s learned and improved from the last run he’ll stay. If not, he’ll be moved on as soon as an a replacement we’ve already identified is available. We’ve just seen that with players being moved, coaches should be no different under the structure

The thing is mate, it’s Doncaster at home

I saw someone on twitter mention the bus left without him but no idea that he wasn't on to start with. The logical explanation was that his family still lives in the west country so maybe travelling back down there afterwards so perhaps that's why?
I thought that a little strange as with two days left in the transfer window I'd hope it would be all hands on deck for that but also appreciate he could still do his family time and still fit that in.

Better make that next couple of games then! Although playing a bottom of table side is always fraught with danger for any Sunderland side.

Bottom of the league or not, their manager will be drilling into them the need to get stuck in and play long balls as we simply won't be able to cope. We can't even play our proper passing game at home as it's like playing on a farmers field down the wings.

Yesterdays result will not only seriously damage our self belief but also massively raise the oppositions, if Bolton can do it why can't they etc.

Aye. It's just not a good look is it?

Vast majority of players hate him anyway so they will have been buzzing.

Never thought I would do this but the run in killed me.

He got the benefit from KLD and the defence and results this year have really not been a top 2 level standard.

Lost 4/6 last league games. Last 3 in a row. Goals conceded are an absolute joke.

Something is not right and I have no faith in him.

Don't even want to hear the bullshit in the post match as nothing , absolutely nothing has changed from Portsmouth or Rotherham scuddings.
He said the pitch was too good.
