Apparently Police now involved. This thing, if true is massive and will rock Man U. There would be no way back for him.
Obviously have to wait to hear if this is genuine, but it is genuine enough for Man United to release a statement... ‘We are aware of images and allegations circulating on social media. We will not make any further comment until the facts have been established. Manchester United does not condone violence of any kind.’
Just following in the footsteps of his idol Ryan Giggs. Hopefully he will serve jail time for this. He should not be allowed to get away with it
Obviously if he’s guilty I hope they throw the book at him. Shame, as I admired him as a player. However, I still can’t get my head around someone whose first instinct is to post this stuff on social media rather than take it to the police.
I hate the trend of trial by social media in society, but with domestic violence I can kind of understand how this might have been the only option someone could see. It is one of the hardest crimes to report due to the emotional and mental abuse that comes with it. I could well see how someone would think they would have talked themselves out of it by the time they got to the station but could build up the courage to hit the post button.
Sure - just a million miles from my mindset. If it’s true then whatever works to get the lass out of the situation and bring the guilty to justice. I’d also hate for some expensive lawyer to lever Mr Greenwood’s credit card into a crack in the case due to evidence being shared ahead of time and get a guilty man off.
Bah If that is him and he has done that, hopefully he can forget his footy career. I hope they find him a nice loving cell mate.
I hate seeing it too. There is a reason our justice system is set up the way it is and a reason it takes a hell of a long time for lawyers, barristers and judges to train and get where they are. There may be a lot of faults with our justice system, but the kangaroo courts of social media do a lot more harm and are far worse. A lot of cases against people can be (and are) ****ed up by social media vigilantes. There was a case in the news just this week of four *****phile hunters who were in court for the way they handled a live stream and confrontation of two separate people. Not only did they break the law by the way they handled the whole thing, but they also caused any potential case against the two men to collapse to the point that there was no way any court would convict them safely.
Well I hope she's got the sense to do it and leave him. Obviously we don't know all the facts, but you can't go on like that.
Yeah, it would obviously make any prosecution far easier if she had pressed charges and was a cooperative witness.
The police and CPS press charges, not the victim. That's always been the case even though people commonly refer to victims "pressing charges". The issue is one of evidence, usually in a domestic violence case its very difficult to get a conviction if the victim isn't willing to testify. Especially when people are married as you cannot be forced to testify against your spouse.
