Just took delivery of 24 cans of Goose Island IPA at a quid a can from Beer Hawk. Will be taking on ski trip, but have put eight in the fridge and will be enjoying a couple tonight.
Honestly though making the Ragu like that it's proper good, well worth trying. Can't say it's mine really as most of the Italian recipes are similar I'm just taking the best of them. I made mine last night going to reheat and serve later.
I don't see the point of the two pans though, just do the soffritto first then add the mince and brown in the same pan. I'd always have garlic, just a clove or two chopped, got to.
Nearly did last night but am not paying that, don't care how nice it is. Got some Cali Pale instead, as they were reduced.
It's easier to get a little colour on the beef that way, when I've done it in one pan the oil and veg seems to make it take longer and then the beef dries out a little. Nothing wrong with the garlic ones I've tried I just thought the one I made without tasted better. I've spent way too much time on this (and chilis, still not happy with my own chilli but I'm getting there).
I think most people overthink chillies tbh, its one of the simplest cheapest dishes about. Unless you're Jamie Luvliver.
I thought the same then tried some of these award winning chili's from competitions in the US and they are very good. Anyone can knock up a simple chili but imo they are nothing special and I can take or leave them.
I take it your Jamie Oliver reference is down to him using beer and Coke and other such stuff. Tried all that and it adds very little.
Was watching Hairy Bikers Route 66 again in the week and they did a good looking chilli. The one using beer is good, I use Bass Red Triangle as I've got it lying around.
Yeah depends where you get it. Cali £4.50 in Tesco and Asda right now. I wouldn't have paid the £8 for the Neck Oil, Cali is better imo anyway I just fancied a change.
