There was a bloke on the radio today by the name of Peter Kitchen. It was not THE Peter Kitchen but thought you might like a reminder of him.

His second year at Fulham saw him miss most of the season as the club were relegated and he moved to Cardiff City for £100,000.

He made his debut for Cardiff in a 4–2 win against one of his former clubs in Leyton Orient and, although he didn't score in that game, he ended the season as the club's top scorer with 13 League goals and, mainly thanks to scoring 5 times in a 6–0 win over Cardiff Corinthians in the Welsh Cup, 19 goals in all competitions as Cardiff just avoided relegation. However his form at the club did not continue into his second season at Ninian Park as the club failed to avoid relegation for the second year running and fell to Division Three.

I recall him from his exploits for Orient in one lengthy FA Cup run. A surprise signing by City. He was a decent striker. He bagged goals for City in a draw at the Wretch Field and in the 3-3 home thriller with the same opposition. He also notched a perfect hat trick for City in a welsh cup tie v Wrexham.

Other players from that period included Wayne Hughes, Gary Stevens, Tarki Micaleff, Billy Ronson, Ron Healey, John Buchanan, Ray Bishop & both the late Phil Dwyer and Keith Pontin.

I used to listen to Radio Luxembourg (MW 208).
Terrible reception in Bristol - kept fading in and out, but imho the best evening listening back in the early 1980s.

When I passed my 11plus in 1963 my parents bought me a Perdio transistor radio as a reward. I’d have Radio Luxembourg on every night in bed and it was a wonderful introduction to music. Also, if City were away all of us youngsters would be stood on the corner of Crwys Road at 4.45 on a Saturday listening to all the results. That radio was my most prized possession as a kid.

I once knew a bloke from Nelson called Peter Kitchen. He used to terrorise the locals by driving around at ridiculously fast speeds. He also liked to be known by his initials.

Its where Mrs Remote grew up.
Had more than a few drinks in the Nelson Inn and Nelson rugby club.

There was a transvestite there who went by the name Della.

There used to be a vibrant nightlife in Nelson. I can remember Ore Odubo doing cabaret there.
