As with Burgess though, he’s a defender but not a footballer and that’s not enough playing the way we are. Having said that it’s Penney who is really out of his depth.
Sounds as though Walton could be a permanent signing for a ‘small fee’. A good deal for everyone since he’d leave for free after this window and they would have to keep paying part of his wages for six months.
Town are closing in on the loan signing of Bristol City midfielder Tyreeq Bakinson. Football Insider reported earlier today that the Robins have given the go-ahead for Bakinson to go out on loan and TWTD can confirm that Town are indeed close to landing the 23-year-old until the end of the season. Cover for Morsy maybe?
It would be weird to bring him in with the intention of just being cover. I reckon he’s been signed to play alongside or further forward.
Kenlock is joining Colchester on loan. Doubt we will ever see him in a Town shirt again. Becoming something of a graveyard for Town players’ careers and one for McKenna to threaten the players with!
Well central midfielders have to adapt and do good work in both halves of the pitch, apart from Geraint Williams. Many times a defensively inclined midfielder played further up the pitch or a primarily attacking one had to sit in front of the defence to suit the team. From what Ive read he sounds like he’s got more than a tackle and a pass on him. This fella is still finding his feet and I reckon he must have been on either the club’s or McKenna’s radar for a reason.
Welcome and good luck to the lad.Let’s hope he makes a good impression here as it doesn’t look likely he’ll be welcome back at Bristol any time soon! https://www.ipswichstar.co.uk/sport/ipswich-town/pearson-on-bakinson-ipswich-move-8634904
Says more about Pearson than it does the player. Another one of those has been managers still dining out on a flash in the pan success.
Not being funny but how the **** do you know, you, like me, haven't got a clue what's been going on, it could just as likely be the player. Let's hope if it is....he knuckles down and tries to make a go of his career here!
Looking at his qualities which I’m only vaguely aware of I think he’s our answer to the lack of creativity through the middle of the team now that we have less of an emphasis on a ‘10’ and using the wingbacks as the primary route to progressing the ball forwards. evans and Morsy have qualities in terms of passing, possession and ball winning but neither is terribly creative. I’ll predict this guy is here to play with Morsy. Be interesting if he’s deployed deep like Pirlo in the regista position a creative player can occupy or swapped with Morsy into the Trequartista role behind the forwards.
It doesn’t matter what’s gone on. I’m sure he’s pissed off Pearson. But coming out to the press to say that is not strong leadership. And if he doesn’t have strong leadership he can’t be a successful football manager.
I thought Harper would've been the box to box player we need, but for whatever reason he hasn't the player I hoped he would...hope this new kid does better than both Harper and Edwards
Wickham’s gone to MK Dons. That one could be spicy! Meanwhile no surprise that Harper and El Mizouni are available for loan.
Simpson recalled from Swindon. They must be fuming, but that’s how it goes. Just the player we need to partner Bonne. Surely the exit sign just got brighter for Jackson and Pigott.
I saw him a couple of years ago in what I think was his first or second appearance for Town and he looked pretty awful and nowhere near ready for first team football, he must've come a long way since then. There must be more to this recall either he's got another loan move until the end of the Season in this league or we're looking to sell a couple of our strikers
