Just my thoughts…..for what their worth (nothing), but isn’t it funny how once a pop or rock star dies, everyone is suddenly their number 1 fan and loves every piece of music they ever released.
Not saying anyone on here, more in general.
I mean when Mensi or Jake Black died…being a fan of their music I felt emotionally connected and genuine grief as I’d listened, enjoyed and grew up to their music for years.
Just seems every politician, z list celebrity and tv presenter are now massive Meatloaf fans.
Wonder how many can name more than 10 Meatloaf songs ?

Yeah, a lot of people jump onto the bandwagon over stuff like this. Social media gives them the chance to make it all about them rather than about the deceased. Look at me everybody, I give a **** more that everybody else! Look how much I care. I was his biggest fan (but never saw him live and only own Bat Out Of Hell and didn't Cher sing with him once?). All bollocks, innit?

Totally mate….it’s weird how when someone famous dies, it’s in us all to show how much adulation we had for that person and how much we admired their artistic work…..when a few days before we’d groan if they came on the radio.
Of course it can work in another way that when these musicians die, it can prompt us to explore their work and possibly understand how amazing they were. A prime example for me was Amy Whinehouse…..really didn’t listen to her stuff when she was alive and saw her as a running joke. However when she died and I started giving her music a bit of playtime I was mesmerised by her voice and somehow ‘got’ what she was making…..her voice was amazing.

We saw Amy a couple of times - she was wonderful live when she was on form - although having seen footage of her gigs when she wasn't I'm glad we caught her when we did.

Biggest gutter for me in last few years was Mark E Smith passing, I was much more upset than I should've been, but he was such a character you thought he was immortal!

Yeah sad how someone with such obvious talent and stage presence could make herself look such an embarrassment at times. Some of the recent docs about her life were true tear jerkers. She always reminded me of Janis Joplin, another singer who had an amazing voice and I’ve only began to appreciate more recently.

As said Meatloaf was always THE Eddie in Rocky Horror picture show ( a film that did change my life) to me. Must have seen it in different incarnations dozens of times, but no-one came anywhere near Meatloaf (similarly with Tim Curry).

I always wondered what it was that Meatloaf would not do for love. Guess I will never know now

Not a surprise given reports of his health recently. Bat Out Of Hell was his (and Jim Steinman's) high point. A fantastic stage presence allied to a great voice made his live act such a must see. Worth noting the same musicians that recorded Bat Out Of Hell were those on Bruce Springsteen's Born To Run, The E Street Band.
There'll never be another Meat Loaf RIP...

I’m guessing some say Janice ?

Funny story about Joplin was supposedly she used to get the piss taken out of her at school by other kids saying she was ugly and being absolute ****s to her…...so she turned up at one of her high school reunions after becoming rich and famous to give a big **** you to all of them who were now idolising her and asking for autographs. she had a really sad, short life that girl

Yup it's all over Twitter at the moment.

I am an unashamed Meat Loaf fan even if I might disagree with some of his recent views his music has been part of my life since my teens. His collaborations with Jim Steinman were always gold but there's plenty of stuff in his whole catalogue that I also hold dear.

He was gearing up for a new release as well after having suffered multiple back operations in recent years that kept him out of action.

I'll name 10 songs if anyone wants them :)

Obviously a proper fan mate…..respect.

Just got off the phone to my bestie who is also, like you, a real Meatloaf fan…..I did the 10 songs test which he easily got.
I made it up to 2
