"Lewis is an extremely talented individual and I tell you what, most of us would not have been able to come back from what he has had to face this year. "I think in Korea, he showed just how much of a champion he is, not just as a racing driver but as an individual. "Let's face it, he's had a tough year, he's faced a lot of criticism and yet still he comes back fighting and can produce results that he did last week. "He's an incredible man and an inspiration to so many people." I know Anthony Hamilton is ickle Lewis's Dad, but this made me want to blow chunks. Basically this year Lewis Hamilton has driven poorly by his standards, received justified criticism for his bad judgement on the track, not given up and got a decent result in Korea. I'm not sure exactly who Lewis is meant to be inspiring with what he himself describes as his worst season ever. If you ask me there are 21 other drivers who have dealt with not being in the fastest car on the grid better than Hamilton has this season. Is Anthony Hamilton's defence of his son simply an example of him closing ranks in the face of a steady stream of deserved criticism? Is his description of Lewis as an "incredible man" even justified given the poor way he has conducted himself during the last few years? Anthony Hamilton's comments might even help to reinforce Lewis's inflated view of himself . It is clear he views himself as better than the drivers around him. He never takes proper responsibility for his own failings, and continually vows never to change the way he drives despite getting up everyone's noses with his careless and dangerous accidents. The way Lewis talks it seems like he feels entitled to win title after title, and this attitude sticks out like a sore thumb, even the ultra competitive world of Formula One. I think if Anthony Hamilton really wanted to help his son gain some credibility as a racing driver he would not indulge in such questionable hagiography. Is it any surprise that he chose a driver like Paul Di Resta to manage after Lewis? Di Resta has taken criticism this season and knuckled down without moaning at the stewards and asking if he was being punished because he is Scottish. It must be a refreshing change for him.
Move over Lance Armstrong and your defeated cancers we have Lewis Hamilton here who has stared a bit of criticism right in the eyes along with having to deal with not being given the fastest car to drive, and against all odds he has bounced back with a decent drive last weekend where lesser men would of given up and quit their dream job which earns them millions of pounds. I salute you Sir.
However, Di Resta can openly moan at his team and it's conveniently forgotten nor is it metioned. Odd that.
Don't know if you are taking the piss or not, it is a shame if your not... The driver I follow takes criticism every weekend, and not yet has he lost his temper or had a rant on live TV, funny.. As for Lewis, he needs to act like a man.. Start from scratch and build his way back up again.
'Westy's Law states that as an online discussion grows longer, the chances of someone mentioning Lewis Hamilton and/or Michael Schumacher (with possible references to Brazil 2008/Australia 1994) approaches 1. When a discussion reaches such a point, it is generally accepted that there is no point in carrying on the discussion any further.'
Well, **** me what a man Lewis is how ****ing tough he must be to take all the criticism and bounce back, If you want to see real tough and real fighting spirit ask Rossi and Edward's how they are going to get on their bikes at the next MotoGP and give it their all after being directly involved in Marco's death. So I suggest you shut the **** up Ant!!!!!!!!
The guy could rescue 25 children, their grandparents, 44 cats, 8 dogs, and a goldfish from a burning building and people would still criticise him for criminal damage if he had to break a door down to get into the place.
you know how it works saint , we have had to suffer over 4 yrs of how lewis saved the world everytime he got in a car , how he was an all time great , how he was senna"esque" , how he was this that and the other by his disciples on various forums , when he has acted and driven like a pram handle this season as he has you have to expect people on the before mentioned forums are allowed to give an alternative opinion of him -- when he bucks his ideas up , stops having a little sulk, takes his silly earings out and lord knows what else people will start to respect him again --
I do indeed know the score. Karma evened it all out on old 606 with the Alonso-brigade proclaiming him as the next coming! Hence the general bore-fest it became. We did at least try to liven it up at times It does make me laugh some people's instinctive reactions when a particular driver's name is uttered. Be it Hamilton, Scheuy, Alonso, Senna, Prost etc. And then some of them come on here and say we need to be open minded about drivers!
hopefully this forum wont go the same way as the old bbc forum , we are all allowed an alternative opinion on a driver if that driver has driven poorly no matter what nationality that driver is -- trying to defend any driver when he has acted silly and drove poorly just because there is a patriotic bond is a lost cause -- alonso gets it in the neck as does schumacher , you cant expect hamilton to be a protected species on here --
I have no problem with people criticizing Hamilton when he’s driven badly and when he’s acted like a spoon, he totally deserves it as much as the next man. What I can’t stand is when people feel the need to just jump on him at any available opportunity… Even when he’s not done anything to warrant it. This thread is a good example.
I don't think any driver has protected species status on here. All are fair game when what they did deserved it. There does seem to be a Hamilton/Schuey bias to a lot of articles at the moment. Hopefully just a phase as beforehand there was a good range of topics being discussed.
