Good luck Toto, who’d have thought one of Hurst’s signings would be a survivor from the great Summer of 2021 cull!!
We’ve still got Nolan and Jackson…there’s so many players in this first team squad, KM must find a new one coming out the woodwork every day.
He’s been remarkable in how he’s played his cards during all the chaos since he arrived. He’s a smart and well mannered guy who seems to have kept his head down and trained hard waiting for the right team to play in the right positions and with a role that suits him. Not sure how he’ll fare in the next level but here and now he looks just the ticket.
Yep, like the Kyle Walker position. Listed as a RCB in the formation but really has the freedom to play like a full back. I never saw what all the criticism towards him was for, he always played well in my opinion.
Today we’d have done a lot better to have Donacien playing the wing back role and Toto in the middle.
For me, I’d never feel Toto was a good idea in any game… I’m glad he’s no longer in our employment. I almost went on the pitch in the fa cup v Oldham to wring his neck after he’d been comfortable all game and then, without any pressure on him, contrived to gift possession and a goal.
Toto was dealing with danger constantly covering for others - 90% of the time Chambers. Somehow nobody’s calling Edmundson a liability when he actually passes the ball to the opposition striker? Woolfy had a slip and escaped too. Nsiala at the very least is no more of a liability than the defenders we’ve kept - but he wanted to return back to the North West. He’ll be a big asset to Fleetwood.
As a defender Nsiala played on the edge. He used to take too many risks, he'd get too tight or not stay on his feet and go in for a rash tackle when he could've just held his position. That was Edmunsons first big mistake it feels like Nsiala has one of those in him every game both on and off the ball. The boy has great attributes for a CB but I'm certainly not disappointed he's left
Edmundson has been great, everyone makes a mistake now and then, Toto had a mistake in him most games. He WONT be missed!
Edmundson has not been great. Let’s get some perspective here. It’s League One level and only a handful of players can make a case for playing Championship football.
Aside yesterdays game, I have liked Edmunson, put in good shifts defense wise and coming frwd. I see KM looks for another to replace Toto.
For me, apart from Woolfy, the others - Burgess, Edmundson and Nsiala were all interchangeable. But we don’t have the numbers there to be playing three at the back and have cover for it. Donacien should be playing wide. I don’t think McKenna can be happy at all with that situation. So it’s the timing that’s a shame. The Fleetwood move clearly pre-dates McKenna coming. Now if we can sign another two Woolfys we will really be in business. The way we are set up really suits his attributes.
Wolfy for me is sooooo dodgy, don't rate him, would rather we brought someone else in to partner Edmundson.....who btw is by far our best defender!!
Saturday was his best game since we were in the Championship. Excellent defending, excellent on the ball and excellent heading on the corners.
I agree with Hampy on this and as far as I know he hasn't been on the Rioja or Gaffers morphine! Woolfy has dramatically improved since Cook's days, and doesnt give idiotic pass give-aways either. Oddly Donacien didnt have the usual charges forward and link-ups with Burns, one of the best pairings all season. I also rate Edmundson who has been the stand-out defender.
I think that's massively harsh on Edmundson. He's been our best defender this season and he does a lot of solid centre-back work that had been going unnoticed. I'd agree that some of our fans on social media seem to view him as the next John Terry - which is obviously a massive exaggeration considering the general standards of teams in League One. He has arguably been our best signing from the summer and I imagine he'll be linked to some good Championship clubs in the summer if we fail to get promoted.
