I'll be honest - As much as Bellamy was a grade A **** - Souness was a dead man walking the moment he started his **** with him. Bellamy was a huge part of how we played.
There was definitely a huge change when Bellamy left - he was the perfect foil for Shearer, and without him not only did we lose his energy and goals, but Shearer had far more to do when he was too old to do it.
A perfect example of Souness's shouting and slamming doors approach backfiring. Shepherd decides we need a disciplinarian cos he thinks Robson couldn't control all these loose cannons, yet they were fine under Robson and under Souness they're slagging him off on live TV and fighting on the pitch.

Defo one of the stupidest transfers we’ve made. Told us twice he didn’t want to play here and we pressed on by persuading him with money. Had no interest and came for cash. Good player but pointless when they don’t want to come.
In 2014 Jack Colback only missed out being in the England squad because of injury and was being compared to Pirlo.

Apply the above to Luuk De Jong too.
Cant say the same about Jon Dahl Tomassen though as we mismanaged him and demanded far too much of him when he was too young.
Luuk De Jong has been absolutely gash for Barca and was bang average for Seville, who are both better sides than we were.
I think the kid is just **** and only played well in the Dutch part time league.
